  23.  @VenusEvan_1885  I honestly don't understand your mindset Explain how hyenas or wild dogs would get by just scavenging, large, terrestrial, high metabolism animals would starve to death. The only animals that can survive as pure scavengers are birds since they can fly.

So if its not scavenging, and not hunting what is it? -wolves also chase prey together yet you call them amazing hunters -hyenas catch most of their prey alone -you can hunt and scavenge nature isn't black/white -if hyenas and wild dogs only scavenged they would starve to death -wild dogs are literally the most successful predators in africa

Hunting is how they get a majority of their food, scavenging is a supplement Again they can't survive just scavenging because they'd starve. Only birds can do that. There are 2 things about them that are specialized for scavenging: Bone crushing bite, and strong stomach acid.

  40.  chairmanxijinpooh8392  you're referring to the linnaean system, which is inaccurate and only refers to physical traits. We all know and accept crocodiles as reptiles. Except their closest relatives are birds. Doesn't make much sense for them to be reptiles and exclude their cousins. Also again birds match and exceed some mammals in intelligence.
