About culture, look at Chinese culture today, and modern Chinese people adopt modern Western clothing, technology, buildings, etc. But do Chinese people suddenly feel our culture is losing or being threatened in any way? Cultures change throughout the course of history, and modern China is one example of that. Just like Westerners in the past adopted Chinese inventions, like paper, compass and especially gunpowder.

  4. KarlW Therefore people can't just say using Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc is banned and illegal in China. As for Chinese apps, in many ways they have surpassed American apps. For example, using WeChat, people can book appointments, hail a cab, shop online, make purchases, pay for it, have them delivered to your doorstep, etc, all using a single app. But you won't get this level of integration with Western apps like WhatsApp.

Even the 1st emperor of China, Qin Shihuangdi, was against Confucianism, and burned books of Confucius teachings and buried Confucian scholars alive (The latter is allegedly). Even the Mongolians and Manchu people conquered China, and tried to wipe out Chinese culture, but ended up assimilating into Chinese culture. So why you think everything has been undone during the Cultural Revolution?

My arguments are built upon facts and logic, with links to support everything I said, whereas people like wisdomleader2017 just claim that Chinese media says this, without even providing a link, so who are you going to believe here? I have shown USA is the world's most protectionist country as compared to China, that China has the world's largest automotive industry. I have shown that China leads Japan in the electric car industry, that BYD Auto is a global recognized brand in 2015. I did brought up the China's highspeed railway, but it is to show an example of how China's hi-speed rail surpassed Japanese Shinkansen so why can't China eventually surpass Japan in automotive industry? Like I mentioned earlier, Japan initially copied Western car designs in 1930s, but Japan has surpassed some American automotive brands. So why people like wisdomleader2017 continue to believe China's automotive industry will never surpass Japan? Why don't you people focus on attacking my points, instead of attacking me personally like what planetzito is doing? If you suspect me of being 50 cent party member, then can you provide evidence for your claims?

  11. forbidmyname It's not only business and many tourists come to visit famous Chinese monuments like Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Tomb of 1st Chinese emperor, terracotta army and so on. Many also come here to study and China has become the top destination for international students in Asia, beating other Asian countries like Japan and South Korea in terms of number of international students.

But isn't USA the country that impose sanctions on North Korea, on Iran Nuclear deal, on Russia annexing Crimea, etc? Even now, President Trump just unilaterally slap tariffs on steel and aluminum, without going through the proper World Trade Organization channels, and many countries are lodging complaints to WTO about US's tariffs.

For example, even US President Trump recognized that Taiwan is part of China, under the One-China Policy, after a phonecall from Beijing. Even other world leaders today, like Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British PM Theresa May, Indian PM Narendra Modi, etc, accept the One China Policy that Taiwan is part of China.

Also, during his presidential campaign Donald Trump promised to label China as currency manipulator, but after President Xi visited him in Maralargo in 2017, he completely change his stance. “They’re not currency manipulators,” President Trump told the The Wall Street Journal during a press conference in the Oval Office in 2017.

I never said Chinese media is unbiased (in fact, every out there media is) I was merely pointing out the differences in news and tone of the Chinese and Western media. And how is the joint military strike in Syria 'misleadingly' portrayed as superpowers bullying the innocent poor country? Aren't the superpowers much stronger than Syria, yet they are choosing to interfere in the country's internal affairs? And I never said anything about this kind of debate or discussion happening on Weibo, but I don't see why the Syrian conflict can't be discussed in Weibo without it being taken down.

Dan If you watch Chinese media like CGTN or New China TV, the topics are usually about how to promote better economic cooperation between the West and about how Chinese government and Western government can coexist peacefully. But Western media like Fox News, CNN, BBC all tend to paint negative view of China, of possible war scenario with China and starting trade wars with China.
