  1. Gauntlets or a coat with leather, or leather faced, sleeves would protect you from cylinder spray. But to guard against chain fire you would need some type of vertical front grip. Or a robust 19th Century altitude to risk.

  2. If it was made or modified in the UK, the address of Colt's London Factory would be marked on the barrel. I don't think Ian would have missed that or failed to mention it.
