  1. The Johnson magazine looks to be longer than the Bren one. So you wouldn't be able to properly close the pouches. But a pair of P37 Utility Pouchs would probably have carried half-dozen Johnson magazines. And the lack of feed lips on the Johnson magazines meant that they did not need as much protection.

  3. Chargers were issued in 50 round bandolier. Soldiers often just wore the bandoliers and left the basic pouches for grenades and Bren magazines. And small pouches, just for chargers, were available for non infantry troops.
