  1. The Germans made a takedown Kar 98k prototype , with a similar interrupted thread joint. But development was shelved after their paratroopers suffered heavy casualties on Crete.

  2. The Germans did the same. A take-down version of the Kar98k was developed for the Fallschirmjager. But never issued, because of Crete.

  3. Interestingly the Germans developed paratroop rifles the other way round: First there were folding stock versions of the Gew 33/40 and Kar 98k. Then they developed a take-down version Kar 98k.
