@seriousmaran9414 The British selected British 9mm Parabellum for SMGs before Italy even joined the War. And Italy used 9mm Glisenti, not 9mm Parabellum.

.357 Magnum. The RAF bought a hundred SAA Colts in that calibre over the counter in New York. They were issued to pilots ferrying single-seat aircraft from West to East Africa. It was a survival tool in case they were forced down in the bush.

The British had already chosen 9mm Parabellum for their SMGs before there was any opportunity to capture this mythical large quantity of ammunition.

Berretta M34 and Walther P38 pistols were popular with British troops. My uncle replaced his Enfield No.2* with a FN GP35 he took from a Waffen-SS soldier in the Ardennes.

@georgesheffield1580 That requirement was dropped in 1915. Many officers were being promoted from the ranks. An often couldn't afford to buy their own revolver or pistol.

.455 Auto was used by the British during WW2. The RN still used the Webley automatic pistol. And the RAF inherited the .455 M1911s, the Army bought in WW1. There were prototype Owen guns in 38/200 but not in .455 Auto.
