  1. ​@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess. Until Greece & Crete Fallschirmjager jumped with sidearms (pistols, grenades and knifes only). And even then only one in four jumped with an SMG. The Fallschirmjager's rifles, machine guns etc. were dropped separately in containers. Which were hard to access if the LZ was under enemy fire, as they were on Crete.

  3. Because of the Versailles Treaty DWM could only make Lugers in 7.65x21mm in the 1920s.

  4. Given the political violence in early 1920s Germany, I can see why such an obvious assassins' weapon was not welcome.
