  1. I wonder how much of Colt's crticism of double-action revolvers was genuine? And how of it was him slagging off the opposition. Perhaps compounded by sour-grapes after the failure of his London Factory.

  3. The Webley Bulldog and RIC revolvers that Colt was competing with were solid frame and gate loading. Webley only marketed its first hinged frame break open revolver in 1877.
