  1. When the Regio Esercito adopted the M1891 they boasted that the 6-round clip gave them an advantage over the Austrians, whose rifles held a 'mere' 5 rounds. Having made the magazine a 'feature' of the Carcarno design the RE were probably reluctant to abandon it.
