  1. The Belgian Government established production lines in the UK. Several British ammunition makers had tooling for 7.65mm Mauser which they couldn't use. But were happy to sell or lease. And there were thousands of Belgium refugees who needed the work. By 1918 there were Belgium enclaves in several British towns with their own shops, bars, and even police and courts.
