@bigeye4520 “Ignominious” is putting it in diplomatic terms. The US — the “power of the world, the victor of WWII” had to accept an ARMISTICE. It was an early sign that there was something not quite right with the official narrative of the Star Spangled Banner. Of course it was just the start of humbling experiences everywhere….after napalming and agent oranging the entire country, it still had to withdraw from Vietnam, and slither away in the darkness…and the mess left in the Middle East by Shrub I and Schrub II …..the discovery of WMD was the ultimate punchline. The goatherders of Afghanistan watched in glee as the Yanks took their “final dump” and turned tail. Now the US faces another crushing slap down in Ukraine….it really is just too easy to expose the farce that is America.

Began with Dr Wen Ho Lee who was accused of stealing nuclear energy-related documents from the Los Alamos National Laboratory. “On December 10, 1999, Lee was arrested, indicted on 59 counts, and jailed in solitary confinement without bail for 278 days.” Later, the government dropped 58 of the 59 charges as it could not prove them. “President Bill Clinton issued a public apology to Lee over his treatment by the federal government during the investigation. Lee filed a civil lawsuit to gain the names of public officials who had leaked his name to journalists before charges had been filed against him. It raised issues, similar to those in the Valerie Plame affair, of whether journalists should have to reveal their anonymous sources in a court of law. Lee's lawsuit was settled by the federal government in 2006 just before the Supreme Court was set to decide whether to hear the case. The federal judge who heard the case during an earlier appeal said that "top decision makers in the executive branch...have embarrassed our entire nation and each of us who is a citizen." [Wikipedia] The anti-sinicism of the New York Times was openly revealed as it cheerled the false case against Dr Lee. Since then, the NYT has increasingly resembled the tabloid paper National Enquirer with its openly anti-Chinese xenophobia. Ironically Dr Lee is Taiwan-born.

No one can be blamed for trying to figure out how to survive under the US directed economics. So go to Vietnam or India or Seychelles or wherever and give it a shot. If you want to preserve capital, it’s advisable to have a Plan B.

Only a country that profoundly values human life can triumph in AI. Countries that devalue human beings and toss them into cauldrons where their lives are wasted do not survive in the long arc of history. If this were not true, Babylon, Rome and Britain would still lead the world.

I know a small third generation Japanese-American company in Saginaw MI that continues to manufacture cranes. They decorated a birthday cake at a party I went to last week. They’re so gay and colorful.

@bertanelson8062 truth.

@AB_123_AB I’m now going to get down to your twiwan level and then say toodles dearie. Do you by any change work for a company that makes pagers? Asking for a friend.

China invented firecrackers for festive and aesthetic displays. The west made gunpowder to kill China makes drones for recreation — the west turns them into weapons to kill — which they’re too thick to make themselves. Nothing new under the Sun.

From what you wrote (perhaps you’re a non-native writer of English) I made the mistake of thinking you were making a profound observation. Didn’t realize you were talking about the last 30 years.
1
@mystictraveler8642 I made the mistake of thinking you might be making a non-trivial statement. Instead of human history, you think of 30 years. Ho hum.

@dasboot5366 I’m a chemical engineer and dispute your falsehood. Explosive powders do not involve handwork, even if they do in your fantasy life. In your sad case, a little learning is a dangerous thing.
1
@georgewilder7423 you probably don’t know this so I share it with you: I didn’t receive my degree from an election. And I’ve forgotten more chemistry than you’ll ever know.
1
@georgewilder7423 I stated my credentials as part of a discussion where someone made a ludicrous argument which seemed to imply knowledge of explosives manufacturing. But I can that went over your head

@AlfredNewman-o7z lol, also good for fertility

No, not that simple except to the simple-minded.

@kryptokc3800 and this doesn’t take into consideration the push by government (usually state level) to mandate the use of more fuel efficient vehicles (non ICE). The e-bikes and scooters will slowly existing bike paths which will expand primarily in retirement communities.

China believes in truth: the “West” and its allies are committed to lying. Schopenhauer in the early nineteenth century was explicit on this point.

@laurencekelly5081 thx schlom.

It was a S*** business model to fleece Chinese or any other students. The decline of the US and West is across the board.

@Whitfield369 Rome kept its people in line by offering “bread and circuses”. The American government does the same, only the bread is made from cockroach flour and the circuses feature Hollywood robots.
1
@etbuch4873 have you ever heard of a “bulldozer”? If you learn how to do an internet search, you can answer your own question. Wisdom begins with the self.

When policy is made by people who can’t hammer a nail “straight”, it’s not a surprise.

In case you haven’t read it yet, Japan has announced its intention to restart nuclear energy. And after dumping millions of gallons of tainted effluent into the sea. Japanese politicians trained by American politicians to despise the population, and to re-elect elite politicians over and over again.

Kevin, your return after a brief hiatus is reassuring. Because, as someone in the China business space, you’re unique — therefore, irreplaceable. There is simply no one who supplies the “Inside” of business in China across as many business sectors as you. Your aura is so free of exaggeration and self-importance. We are deeply appreciative for your existence.

@seaskyguy USD and USG (government) are controlled by financiers who, in turn, the politicians. That’s the system and there’s nothing anyone can do about it, least of all whoever is president.

@levin36 calling fakery out doesn’t elicit a response
