It was dominated by medieval practices which were very invasive and tortuous — which is to be expected if you understand the parallel practices of the Church in extracting confessions of heretics. The so-called “Scientific. Revolution” was supposed to change that. One monstrous belief system is replaced by another equally fallacious and easy to manipulate. The Sassoons marked the beginning of a new phase of “treatment” with opium poppies as the base. Drugs, in short. And this tradition is carried on by the Sacklers with OxyContin. Albert Bourla is the latest “hero”: mRNA “vaccines”. Where a society is in collapse, whether Qing dynasty China, or modern America, drugs will always be sought, legal or otherwise.

The great American achievements of the 30s, Tennessee Valley Authority, Hoover Dam and the masterpiece the Golden Gate Bridge — just a memory. The most skilled politicians get what they want for themselves (money in offshore bank accounts and power over the cattle) while pulling the wool over the eyes of their voters. As the west neither has resources nor manufactures anything (at a competitive cost), is it possible that BRICS could institute (1) internal member pricing (“friends”) and (2) external pricing (“warlike countries”)? If BRICS could break the vicious cycle of war/abuse/colonialism by the west over the past five centuries — this perhaps could be the “end of history” /s.

  38.  @kramrle  all other things being equal, of course a trade surplus is preferable to a trade deficit but there are other issues. With the reserve currency, the US abused the trade deficit, basically paying IOUs as it has the power to print unlimited dollars. Kind of like never paying cash (which was gold until 1971 when the US switched to IOUs.  I’m not sure what your last sentence means.

  39. what you describe is not Bretton Woods. BW annointed the US/USD as the single manager/currency in global transactions. BRICS is too disparate a group to uphold a gold standard. China does not want the RMB to be the global reserve currency.
