Bill O’Reilly: If you strike me down, Margaret Hoover, I shall become more powerful than you can imagine. 2:20
1
It’s evil. JD Vance is evil. Just say it.
1
That’s the only way he has any possibility to win. Otherwise I think he has sacrificed his career for the good of our country and for democracy. Edit: I just checked. Georgia has an open primary system, but it would take a helluva lot of democratic voters to make sure he’s the Republican nominee.

I clicked on this video knowing I would be disappointed that it had nothing to do with the Fallout game or TV series. 😅 Please consider doing a series of reaction videos to the TV show. 😂

@debc2237 When you call Israel the occupier, you are repeating Hamas. They mean Israel doesn’t have a right to exist. Israel occupies Israel is the issue for Hamas. When you use terms like anti-Zionist, you’re saying that Jews do not have a right to live in the Levant. That’s why anti-zionists are anti-semites. If you don’t understand these things, if you refuse to learn the history, you’re engaged in childish protest. Israel needs to wrap this up and withdraw from Gaza. They need to cease operations if that will get the hostages back. Israel needs to do a lot of things. But that doesn’t change the misguided nature of the anti-Israel protests.

I’ll speak up for the unions and everyone thereafter. But let them have the socialists.
1
I don’t know if the democrats are ready to step up and bail out Johnson, but they could stop the shutdown and get Ukraine aid, as well as look like the reasonable party. The immigration bill might be back on the table, too (including renegotiating something more palatable to the Dems.
1
They abolished daylight savings time in Mexico and it’s frikkin awesome.
1
Assuming we win this election, how can we encourage JD Vance to run for President in 2028?
1
lol, they’re trying to keep Trump out of trouble. 😂
1
Agreed. The Republican Party has gone way beyond garden variety corruption and malfeasance (typified by Menéndez, as an example) that we have seen in both parties. I don’t know if this will give you any hope, but I think there has been a positive development. As the GOP has gotten worse, the Democrats have cleaned up their act. I hope my perception is correct and if it is, I hope the trend continues.
1
@carolharris2401 Tell me something: do most Americans understand the policies that the Dems propose? Or are they responding to buzzwords? It’s my impression that very few are willing to get into the details to understand how a policy will be implemented, what unintended consequences might arise, and how adjustments might be made.

I wish Tim didn’t say he’s a RINO. That’s a symptom of gaslighting. The magagop has spent the last 8 years purging the GOP of conservatives and moderates who have a conscience, ethics, and rationality. Many of us don’t want to be a Republican. By now we’ve left (or should have left). But God bless those very few who have stayed to fight for what’s right. The term “RINO” is used by maga to police the GOP the same way that fundies police the members of their identity groups. The GOP is the new religion where you must profess faith in Donald Trump, no matter what, believe that he alone can save you, and love him with all your heart.

I don’t think I’d ever vote for AOC, but I must say that when she was elected I mis-estimated her as being a leftist bomb thrower. She settled in nicely and became a productive member of the house and her caucus and got on board with Pelosi’s leadership. She’s still outspoken, but she just sounds like a progressive, not a nut case. She gets my respect. I think Pelosi must have taken her aside when she was a freshman and told her what’s up, here’s how we govern, here’s how you’re going to help, here’s how we help you. Can you imagine any of the Republican Speakers exercising any kind of control (or tutelage) of newly elected Republicans?
1
@NeilHoward-kp2gc Fred, that was a brave thing you did, breaking up with Daphne and coming out of the closet.
1
It’s OK to have up to ten favorite people as long as you tell them privately and they don’t speak of it to the other favorite people. You just say, “Don’t tell the others, but you’re my favorite.”
1
It’s possible, but why? On what grounds? Dems don’t want to expel her. GOP might not want the aggravation of doing it. Really, it’s enough that she’s marginalized.
1
@brownbee61 and the mayonnaise. Can’t forget the mayonnaise. I prefer sardine salad sandwiches, which someone convinced me to try “for duh environment” (I don’t know it it really helps), but are more flavorful than tuna.
1
He got the Republican conference’s nomination, but to get the votes he’d basically have to submit to the extreme nutjobs of the GOP like McCarthy did, and we’d be back at square one.
1
Why do you call it an invasion? Do you think it’s literally an invasion or are you comfortable with hyperbole? Do you include asylum seekers in your definition of “illegal”? The extreme language you use makes it seem like YOU are not serious about solving immigration issues, but use the issues to advance your political faction. Cool down the rhetoric and start thinking about actual solutions and how they can be implemented.
1
They’re potentially more dangerous to the Kremlin.
1
We’re not worried about RFKJ winning. We’re worried about him siphoning votes from Biden. Sadly he has a loony/low-information leftist base.
1
You know what is super funny to me? The “revolutionary” left is now calling democrats and republicans that voted for the aid bill the “Uniparty”. After years of bitter division (that is still there), the moderates of the two sides cooperate on one issue, and they’re now the “Uniparty”. The magas might be more dangerous in the current moment, but the Make America Socialists are beyond ridiculous. Let’s hope they never get together.

@robynnordstrom7799 Before and after he admitted he was “creating a story” to focus attention on Springfield, he said he received a call, not an email. If true, this means his office (or a district office) received a call or he did on his personal phone. If it was to his office, a senate staffer logged the call as they do for all calls from constituents. There will be name, number, and a note about the subject of the call. If it was to his cell phone, there will be service provider records of the call. It might be possible to gain access to these records through a FOIA request. Or if there is a civil case, it might be possible to subpoena the records. The City of Springfield might have a cause of action to initiate a civil case against Vance because of all the bomb threats.
1
One of the big surprises is that Orban got out of the way (after assurances that Hungary wouldn’t lose its EU earmarks). He said he was going to block it.
1
I’m a regular listener of Lawfare, but Ben’s opinions seem to be more unvarnished on Bulwark.
1
@greyangelpilot and once they’re moisturized, then what?
1
I haven’t seen the Bernie speech yet, but I was struck by AOC taking a relatively moderate stance in her speech. She was passionate without sounding too radical or ideological.
1
They didn’t break any pact with Christ. All they need to do to maintain the pact is believe that Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection has saved them. Then they are enjoined to love God with all their heart and do unto others as they would have others do unto themselves, which are the two commandments of the Christian covenant with God. The first is easy. And so is the second, which is why Evangelicals arm themselves to the teeth and dare others to come at them.
1
He’s not going to ask for an en banc hearing, because the hold on the trial will lapse on the 12th, so he has to ask the Supreme Court to stay the trial and rule on the Appellate panel’s ruling. Are you with me so far? He cannot waste time, he has to file for the stay AND for certiorari immediately. To get the stay, he needs 5 justices to grant it. To get a hearing (aka certiorari aka cert), he needs 4 justices. There is a decent chance that the Supreme Court won’t grant him cert because the three judge appellate panel was so thorough. If the court does grant cert, there’s still a pretty good chance they won’t give him a stay and the trial in Judge Chutkin’s court will continue to move forward.
1
Burke influenced ex-GOP here. And a proud California. If I could ask Mike a question, I’d ask him if is there’s any chance of a traditionally moderate Republican candidate to be Governor of California, or has California gone completely Democratic Party for the foreseeable future? The thing is, I don’t hate Newsom. I’d prefer a moderate Republican, but I don’t think Newsom is ruining the state like the knee jerk MAGAs say.
1
I think the weakest part of that is that he’s being disqualified from primary ballots. Technically, he’s running to be the nominated candidate at this stage. If the GOP wants to nominate a candidate who is disqualified from office, that’s their right. Didn’t the Yippies try to nominate a pig at the 1968 Democratic convention?
1
I probably will not ever read it, but not because I don’t want to. But I did enjoy very much his various takes on the war, Ukraine, American politics, etc.
1
Reagan. Did Reagan throw out liberal consensus? What was it before Reagan? I’m not so sure it ever existed. Do you mean that the Democratic Party was pulled towards the right? How far to the right was it pulled from where it was before Reagan?
1
@muuuuuud The consensus of bible scholars is that the Book of Daniel was written hundreds of years after its prophesies came true. Events are easy to predict AFTER they’ve happened.
1
I’m not usually one to comment on people’s appearance, but A.B. is low key stunning in the green top and the green stone necklace. She looks like she’s going to a dinner party immediately after the video is shot.
1
Let me lay something on you. Making the argument that Zionism is European colonialism is an anti-Semitic idea. The argument that Israel is a European colony is anti-Semitic. Both arguments are ahistorical. They are false arguments supported by a facile and false understanding of history. I protest the Netanyahu government. I protest the IDF going to far whine not doing enough to expedite humanitarian aid. I protest Hamas choosing urban Gaza as the battlefield. I demand both a release of hostages and a ceasefire. But in not going to listen to idiotic arguments about Israel not having the right to exist because it’s “settler colonialism”. If anyone wants to make those arguments, they better have a firm grasp on 2000 years of Jewish history.
1
@ELL289 I think there are (100% legal) pro Hamas groups spreading disinformation, and there are lightweight academics applying their “historical analysis” without knowing jack squat about the history. If you’re going to do Marx stuff, do it right.
1
As an Asian American, I’m resentful that the Haitians are stealing our traditional racial slurs.
1
100%. Thank God there are people who see the truth and are speaking about it. Trump won the POPULAR vote because this is who we are. We’d rather elect a criminal as president than a black woman. The house we’ve built sits on a foundation of racism and sexism.
1
Elon is terrible at interviewing, whether he is top or bottom.
1
Either George H.W. Bush or Bob Dole would have been much better presidents than Slick Willy. I never thought Bill Clinton was the worst President. He did some good things. But he also perjured himself under oath.
1
I think there will be a lot of pressure on Biden to expand the court, something he hasn’t wanted to do.
1
The John Birch Society finally destroyed the GOP in 2016, and it’s just been the slow motion aftermath ever since.
1
What Republican policies? Are there any actual policies? All I see is posturing, posing, sloganeering, and threats. For example, “Close the border” isn’t a realistic policy, it’s not even a policy. It’s a slogan. And when the plan is to undermine currently proposed solutions to harm the current President, it’s a pose.
1
It’s a new thing. It’s also a thing on the far left. You know, the “actually a Marxist” left.
1
The idea of starting a trade war with two of our closest and biggest trade partners is silly. NAFTA II is set to expire in 2030. Negotiations for NAFTA III are set to begin in 2026. It could be that Trump is just engaging in hardline positioning ahead of negotiations. But what I think is happening is just Trump bloviating like he did about his wall that Mexico was going to pay for.
1
Animatronic Ron Desantis is main attraction at the Hall of Failed Candidates.
1
Because it’s a counter factual. There’s no way to test it.
1
Is this hand wringing or pearl clutching? We’re no longer trying to persuade the nutcases. We’re persuading the right leaning independents and traditional republicans that are wondering what tribe they’re in.
