They love cruelty and are entertained by it.

Give it time.

@mananimal3644 You wrote Jill Stein 2026. Is that the year when Hamas makes Stein the President of Gaza?

If you’re my age (and a Californian), you know and love Steve Garvey AS A BASEBALL PLAYER. But I’m not going to vote for a Republican. I’d consider him if he ran as a Democrat. I’m an ex-Republican and a current Dodger fan.
1
Good point. It would be better to say that he wouldn’t be charged under the espionage act if he had declassified them—but the burden of proof is on him to show that he declassified the documents in his possession while still president. That’s the problem with using your presidential mental powers to declassify: they don’t leave a paper trail. 😂
1
Trump was combing through the documents, removing what he wanted to keep or what he didn’t want the FBI to know he had. There was a shit ton of bankers’ boxes containing the documents, and apparently they weren’t organized.
1
To be fair, he’s withdrawing from the debate on 5th amendment grounds. Voter instructions should include language about candidates taking the 5th is their right, and not an indication of guilt. 😂 (This is a joke, but I’m sure that self-incrimination is one of the Trump team’s concerns about the debate. Or any time Trump opens his mouth.)

I hope you’re not betting.

What goes on in these echo chambers? What is it that echoes? Rhetoric.
1
“America First” is a silly slogan intended to pull the U.S. out of multilateral alliances and push it into sketchy bilateral agreements that would financially benefit the MAGA-masters. It’s much much easier to conceal side deals between corrupt dictators in bilateral deals.

“Balloon knot. . . . . . balloon knot . . . . . .”

Duncan pretty much committed career suicide out of patriotism. He still had a lot of road in front of him as a Republican politician. That sort of commitment to democracy is on par with Joe Biden’s sacrifice. Maybe greater, because Joe is at the end of his career, and Geoff Duncan is in the middle of his.

@CampfireGorl It really is a genius strategy. She will have to do at least one in-depth interview eventually, but she doesn’t need to do it right now. I think she has a valid reason, too. She’s too busy on the campaign trail and preparing for the DNC, having got a late start. When she does do an interview, I think a bold choice would be a conservative (but anti-Trump) interviewer that will ask her legitimate hardball questions and hold her feet to the fire, not someone liberal who will throw her softballs. She can handle it and defend her ideas, and I think voters will respect that.

They still have gas stoves, no? It doesn’t matter if it was debunked.

Trump isn’t tough, he’s a Mean Girl. That should be a campaign message. Imagine K.H. calling Trump a Mean Girl when he starts calling her names. Trump is the Queen Mean Girl. Stephen Miller sounds like he needs a diaper change. I want to hear from some focus groups about straws. That seems like an issue of national importance that could have real traction, something you could build a campaign around. I can see the ad now. “The Last Straw”. Anarchy in the streets. The economy craters. Nuclear war. Because paper straws were the last straw.
1
He appeals to the Bernie “anti-Zionism is cool” Sanders camp. You know who I’m talking about? The Marxists that don’t even understand Marx.
1
@Jk-tk4bc Uh, he built a legal career on being anti-vax. Normally I’d say you’re just misinformed. But I think you’re actively spreading disinformation. You’re a liar.
1
@Jk-tk4bc oic. You’re a bot, lol

It would be so fantastic for George W. Bush to endorse Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Maybe Michele Obama can go talk to her buddy—she seems to have the greatest rapport with George than anyone else on the planet. It would be fantastic, but I admit it’s also a fantasy.

I’m so happy the band is getting back together.

They’re on contract and they’re not of as much use as you seem to think because the winds are preventing them from working. In addition, these are water dropping aircraft, which are much less effective than fire retardant dropping aircraft. The water just evaporates due to the dry conditions and the heat of the fire, so it’s not much use in fire containment. The Canadian air crews are good neighbors, but they’re well paid good neighbors. And while we appreciate the assistance, they are not assisting much when on standby due to the windy conditions—nor should they fly in such unsafe conditions.

The problem there is that progressive Dems are about as closed-minded to conservative Dems as the MAGA are to moderate Republicans. So they’ll get immediately primaried. GOP won’t primary them if they’re in a swing district. (Assuming the GOP has learned a lesson from 2022.) The Democratic Party’s Big Tent isn’t as big as it used to be.

@marthareis5873 Teeing off, you say? Make America Golf Again.

McConnell or one of his apprentices did some amazing political maneuvering to get 80% of what they wanted by tying immigration to Ukraine Aid. It was a high risk/high reward gambit. But the conference fell apart when Trump opposed it. What should have been a Republican victory became another Trump inflicted humiliation. McConnell ran circles around the Dems, but then couldn’t hold his own conference together because the damn cowards are so frightened of Trump.

Valuing the life of the unborn is meaningless if we don’t value the lives of the born.

Trump doesn’t take office until January 20th.

I don’t agree that the war is based on religion. For most of the history of Islam and Judaism coexisting, they’ve coexisted peacefully. The war is based on Hamas and Netanyahu each clinging to power. Behind Hamas is Iran trying to destabilize the region and undermine the Sunni/Israel alliance.

You’re making the common mistake of thinking that all Christians worship Jesus. They worship Christ. For some Christians the teachings of Jesus are important. For others they’re secondary. But the most important aspect of Christianity is the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ. It’s right there in the name. There are many good Christians that do use Jesus as an example for their lives. But it’s not the belief in the crucifixion and resurrection that makes them good.

I’m digging Edelman and Cohen. Great podcastvideothing.

We need you to campaign. By yourself, you bring one vote to the ballot box. But if you campaign, you might bring 2 or 5 or more votes to the ballot box that might not make it there otherwise. It’s not always about persuading someone to change their vote to Kamala. It could be persuading them to vote. It could be energizing them to vote and helping them past lethargy. It could be giving someone a ride to the polls. It could be making sure that everyone on your street’s voter registration is up to date. Yes, vote blue. But online activism is not going to win the election. Enthusiasm alone will not win this election. Turning that enthusiasm into ACTION will win the election for Kamala and Walz. It is WE who must give her the victory. Don’t be a spectator for the next 10 weeks.

You like the Louisiana Kennedy?

@auntiez4917 let’s put it this way: they have no shame, but they can suffer humiliation. And imho, the Jim Jordans should suffer such humiliations that they go skulking off.

The loss of Avdivka is the fault of the Republican congressional conference. If Ukraine falls (god forbid), the Republicans own the blame, not just the politicians but every single voter that has put a Republican into office.

They left her to find their based fascist promised land and got stuck in the mountains, where they are now resorting to cannibalism. The GOP has become the Donner Party.
1
@britishrocklovingyank3491 Trump doesn’t believe in policies. He believes in power. He’ll do or say anything to attain, extend, or maintain that power.

Jefferson Davis was never tried for his crimes, but he was disqualified from running for federal office by section 3 of 14th amendment.

How’s that low information diet going? Feel any skinnier?

The Dems could nominate her and back her with their votes. Are they willing to form a centrist coalition? Can they form a centrist coalition without ripping apart their own party? If Cheney is a serious Dem proposal, you’re asking the Dem minority in Congress to take on huge risk. It’s much safer for the Dems to sit back and watch the GOP fall apart.

@kaitykaity I guess you should read the book! 😅

The Eaton Fire came down into the flats south of the San Gabriel Mountains. These aren’t canyons surrounded by forest and chaparral. These are wide two lane streets with commercial/retail buildings and residential side streets. (Although there are canyon neighborhoods on the north side of Altadena that are also burning.) I have friends that live in a canyon neighborhood immediately northeast of JPL. Their neighborhood has been surrounded on three sides during past fires on a ridge or mesa between two small canyons. They’ve installed fire suppression equipment on their house to spray fire retardant foam on the roof. I’ve been watching aerial footage from yesterday morning, and I see that the fire is burning a tract of McMansions across the canyon. It’s possible that their house is still standing, especially since the upwind terrain has been previously denuded by earlier fires. The spread of the fire into an urban area is unprecedented, and unlike the Palisades Fire, the families living in Altadena are primarily working class more than upper class. I’m really shocked by how far south the fire has spread.

It’s never been more clear than Republicans killing their own legislation that would have gone a long way to addressing border issues, AFTER they were told to by Trump. Passing the legislation would have been very good for the party itself, but it deprived Trump of his one “real” issue. The Senate Republicans maneuvered the Democrats over a barrel and extracted maximum concessions. It was a masterclass in hardball politics and represented a major victory for the GOP (in addition to being good for the country). And Trump snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. 😖 Because he needed the issue to run his campaign. Once again, the maga GOP disgusts me.
1
@skeptic_al That’s pathetic if true.
1
It’s really too bad that Hillary didn’t have sixteen years (2001- 2016) to redefine herself and push back against the image that Republicans had created of her. It’s so unfair that she was never given the opportunity. 🙄 I voted for her in 2016, pinching my nose all the while. It’s true that lot of things that happened to her during the 2016 were unfair. But being the victim of unfairness, even of skullduggery and ratfakking, does not win elections.

We Live is a documentary (brought back to us from a good Terminator).

@tonisodano5472 He grabbed the GOP by the __________, but he did it in stages by appealing to people’s worst impulses.

Some denominations of Christianity actually embrace the teachings of Jesus and have empathy for the suffering. I know a lot of Mormons who are good people, and by and large they care about those that suffer and do their part to give succor. It’s not long ago that their forefathers were persecuted by other Christians and had to flee west to Utah. However, the humanistic values of Mormon Christianity seem to be eroding as evangelical maga Christianity gains a toe hold in Utah. Four years ago, the majority of Mormons weren’t having what Trump was selling. These days, I’m not so sure.

Trump is like a boxer who doesn’t want to fight the third round. He’s a baseball player that doesn’t want to take his third inning at bat.

@rodneyoneil-kb1xk do you know who else is without shame? Russian (or other) bots positioning themselves to foster more division and extremism.
