The media isn’t running for office. Being liked shouldn’t be part of their job.

@danielkruze182 It’s sarcasm from people that have an unhealthy need to feel special. They “predict” a thousand different things. Then one of those things comes to pass (while 999 things do not) and they feel vindicated and demand recognition for their special insights and intelligence.

Already being done.

Meta is going to disrupt the private prison industry. It just needs to engineer a VR helmet that is unremovable by the prisoner.

So Germany might as well go all in with Ukraine because it’s not getting gas from Russia.

@Liza's Mentor I’m surprised Vietnam abstained, given its history with China. However, Vietnam also invaded Cambodia to take out Pol Pot. I guess they like to keep their options open. 😉

We knew how they were going to vote, but it’s still amusing to see Afghanistan voting in favor of the resolution. (And of course they would, because of their experience with Russian invasions.)
3
Fewer people are willing to admit they’re Republicans these days, Omar. More are leaving the party or voting Biden despite their party affiliation. Trump was right. We’re tired of all his “winning”.
3
@brenthandley5591 the bond payment goes to investors. This wasn’t any national government loaning Russia the money. This was Russia borrowing money from investors. And the result will be that Russia’s credit worthiness will be close to North Korea’s.
3
@pk7ghalm23 Yes, but the people trying to replace the senile leader (I assume you mean Trump) are just as bad.
3
@traceehoughton I’m not sure about all the things you wrote (I’m not sure I understand what you wrote), but I support your conclusion. This has all been a temper tantrum by a man-infant who is not getting his way wrt the election.

You are a liar spreading disinformation about the worst pandemic this country has seen. You’re not a frontline health worker reporting what you’re seeing, you’re a propagandist working for god knows who. Your disinformation will potentially cause real harm, and if there is a sliver of decency in you, you’ll feel ashamed and quit your propagandist job.

“Shout out to all the homies in Shanghai! You gotta chill, bros. Be cool or act like a fool, know what I mean? Who else? Oh, hell no, we got Shenzen in the how-owse! What up, dog! How you illin’? Keep stackin’ those benjamins. Uh, I mean keep stackin’ those Maos, right up to the ceiling. Y’all put your hands in the air for Shenzen! Make some noise!”

Yes and no. China does have long term designs on Taiwan, but Taiwan is better defended and has stronger commitments from its allies. China will take its time. That said, I bet Xi is pissed at Putin, because the invasion draws comparisons to China’s desire to swallow Taiwan. It strengthens the resolve of Taiwan’s partners. Putin has made Xi’s job harder.

You are making an intelligent argument. Perhaps I shouldn’t be shocked that you are not mixing up the omnibus spending bill with the relief bill. Not shocked, pleasantly surprised. What I would like to see is a simple explanation of each line item in the spending bill. The explanation should include the name of the congressperson sponsoring it (or a note that it’s part of the President’s budget request). There might be very good reasons for some or all of the foreign aid, but we just don’t know. So I’d support your moratorium, at least UNTIL we get reasonable explanations in clear language for each budget line item.

Increase your Thorazine dosage.

You need to look up the definition of “oxymoron”. Covid-19 is as much an oxymoron as it is a palindrome.
2
He’s quoting “old Chinese sayings”, not so much Mao’s Little Red Book. The speech sounded more like a box of fortune cookies.
2
@kuuipopakalolo8723 I’m going to be slightly disappointed if he doesn’t try to pardon himself. It would be both interesting and funny to see the courts shred that into tiny bits when he attempted to use it. Looks like he won’t even try.

TrenTacos Ask your doctor for a psychiatric referral.

@MarshallSweet it’s true, the Democrats have a plan to make Trump look bad. Step 1) Get out of his way. Step 2) ??? Step 3) profit!!1! Trump doesn’t need any help looking bad. He’s doing it all on his own. You’re doing a fine job of helping him, though.
2
He “wanted” one, but never presented concrete proposals beyond his border wall. Pelosi didn’t fight it as there was never any legislation sent to the house from the White House. This is why “infrastructure week” became a running joke among lib comics and late night tv hosts. The fact of the matter is that Trump spoke about infrastructure in generalities, but never created a detailed plan. If he ordered deputies to create such a plan, he never read it. It was politically expedient to act like there was a plan, but actually creating a plan was too much work for a guy mostly focused on feeling important.

Congrats on the one month anniversary of your YouTube account. 🎂

Over five times the number of people meeting for hours in a similarly sized enclosed space means five times greater chance of exposure. This is even more critical if you have members that refuse to be vaccinated. Your confusion will lift if you give critical thinking a try.
2
You’re repeating lies and you’re actively working to destroy democracy.
2
In this case, really cheap. He didn’t need to pay a speech writer, he just opened up a box of fortune cookies.
2
Lol. As if the psychiatrists will make you work while you’re residing in a looney bin.

I want to know more, but McCarthy might have introduced a sensible moderate bill to appease any moderates left in his party. Wouldn’t that be something if the Republicans actually did something to help the country? Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but let’s hear Kevin out. The truth is we’ve come out of a public health crisis in pretty good shape, but we need to “reload” so to speak, so that we’re ready for the next crisis. If this limits spending a modest amount but raises the debt ceiling, we’re in business.
1
Why do you tell lies and spread disinformation. Neither legal or illegal residents received payments. The amount of money for other countries in A SEPARATE BILL was not more than the relief bill. The amount was 3% of the direct payments (and it was part of TRUMP’s budget). You’re telling lies because you’re malignant or repeating lies because you’re lazy and ignorant. Which is it?
1
We won’t know until a bargain is struck, if a bargain even can be struck. In the meantime, look at the bill that the House of Representatives already passed to get a rough idea where the starting point is. Minimum wage will get stripped out by the Senate Dems (rightfully so because it’s a separate issue). The conservative faction of the Democratic Party is also pushing for focusing the direct payments to the most needy. This should satisfy Republican senators, but if they still refuse to act in a bipartisan manner, the Dems can push through the bill through reconciliation. Again, look at the House bill to understand the framework and basic components. The GOP Senators still have a say in the bill’s provisions, but if they don’t, it will get passed anyway. I’m a conservative. I’d rather see bipartisan problem solving by both parties acting IN GOOD FAITH. I’m not seeing many Republican politicians doing that.

First of all, you are completely ignorant wrt various countries submarine capabilities and what capabilities would be necessary to damage the pipelines. Second of all, you are basing the idea that it was a submarine attack. It might not have been an attack at all.

Great spelling, Ivan. Almost like a real American.

Big mistake. He’s a man and they’ll have to pay him a higher salary.

Not to mention the persecution of ethnic and religious minorities.

@zpclosangelesgraffiticafe GenocideVirus is a good example of horseshoe theory.

I’m not sure if that’s true. Many of his supporters couldn’t believe what happened, or how suddenly it happened. Remember, it happened relatively quickly. Many who didn’t know better expected Nixon to fight the impeachment. His resignation came as a shock. My grandmother admired Nixon greatly, and it was months before she fully accepted the truth about Nixon. You might be right, but you’ll need to show us some polling data from the time of Nixon’s resignation.

@2005OEFArmy That’s not clear. The island is part of Russia’s blockade of Odessa. It doesn’t lift the blockade, but it hurts Russia’s ability to enforce it. However, just because Russia has decided not to occupy the Island and use it as a missile platform doesn’t mean the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to occupy it and use it. I suspect it will remain a no man’s land.

This will indirectly profit the pizza industry. It’s how deregulation in one sector of the economy creates jobs in other sectors. Capitalism wins again!

Stop repeating the President’s lies.

@mariarodriquez5622 That’s how you know he’s a non-American troll. He has heard of a dollar tree store, but he has no idea how transactions are performed.
1
@supportyourtroopsathletes6460 lol, that would work if he had ever set foot in ANY store in the U.S. Isn’t it clear that he has no idea how transactions (buying something) in a store work?

It’s people like you that create the need for a nanny state. Grow up and stop being a selfish crybaby.

Manchin is pro-business, a conservative Democrat. I think it’s likely he’ll try to help small business owners and freelancers. Right now I think he’s trying to bend expectations downward a little bit, before other Dems get too enthusiastic (and on the record) for an overly generous stimulus payment.
1
@Montana Cowboy It’s healthy. It’s going to mean there will be negotiating, give-and-take, and compromise. We might see a smaller and/or more targeted check, but if the pandemic and economy don’t improve, there will be another check. I trust Manchin here. He’s talking like a sensible adult (but of course I want to see specifics). I could see a smaller payment going out right away to everyone, and then a larger one, but for means tested recepients.
1
@DA-ou7hv I think Manchin is doing the right thing here. Yes, many need help, but (I’ll be diplomatic) some of the Dems get a little too enthusiastic. You’re right, the truly desperate and the destitute need emergency help. Even those getting by, a little cushion can provide a lot of mental relief. Let’s also remember what the “stimulus” part of stimulus checks means—spending money on whatever, especially locally. If someone who doesn’t strictly need the current $600, they could hire a couple people to paint their living room rather than invest the money. Well off people need to think about how their spending can help their community.

@goe1punk did you get red pillowed?

I was a little worried Mexico was going to get this wrong, given AMLO’s remarks wrt sanctions.

Nah, Xi is pissed at Putin. Putin wasn’t supposed to invade all of Ukraine. China was counting on Putin to reinforce splits in NATO, especially between the U.S. and the Western European members. Instead, Putin has unified NATO and strengthened the resolve of China’s competitors. It’s caused new attention on Taiwan and China’s threats to Taiwan. The dependence of Europe on Putin’s oil and gas has China’s trading partners examining their dependence on China. This will likely lead to shifting some manufacturing to India, Vietnam, Mexico, and Brazil so as to be less dependent—slowing China’s economic growth. Xi knows full well that the U.S. and it’s European Allies can absorb the costs of helping Ukraine. There is no need to prop up Zelenskyy given the huge support and popularity he has in Ukraine. The only silver lining for Xi and the PRC is that a weak Russia will become a client state, in debt to China if it props up Putin, but China must play this game delicately. It is important to China that it maintains the facade of being above the fray.
1
@liangxiong4721 China is a net importer of food. Sorry to burst your bubble. The invasion of Ukraine will touch every nation that participates in the global economy, some worse than others. Maybe China will get off lightly, but it will feel some of the effects.
