From steel to sewage systems. And much of our modern developments since then have essentially been attempts to move down the civilization level from eliminating official classes to actual monogamy.   10. That theory is usually called hyper diffusionism today cuz the modern theories are more regional diffusion. So instead of say, Agriculture invented one place, it is invented in a few places and spread out from there. There is certainly no theory of Agriculture that can explain the Americas, Eurasia and Papua through diffusion.

  11. Olay, coming from someone from rhe continent, I think Westerners have a consistent ability to just be wrong about and overestimate Africa. Best example to me is the consistently high projections for Nigerja over the long term that keep failing everytime. Nigeria did not make a united States of west Africa as was preidtced in the 60s, didn't become the next China didn't become a real geopolitical rival to France or South Africa. Not to say nothing good will come out of it, there's Botswana but it would have to so fundamentally change for anything good to come out of it.

They provide a hard theological justification for monogany and it was the main thing that missionary and independent churches across africa implimented. No polygamy and men with multiple wives had to drop all but the first to be fully part of the church. So it wasn't just brushed under the rug, even if the justification isn't obvious in the bible and has to be come to through triage and tradition.

The Children of Leiah against the Children of Rebecca, Absalom against his brothers etc. It may not be a hard rule, the Catholic Church has given ruling before that temporary Polygamy is allowed but it isn't ideal either and shouldn't be allowed but in extreme cases. Also, Moses and Gideon may have been monogamous or at least, serial monogamists. At any one point in time they're not mentioned as having wives.

The things is that Indus, Mesopotamia, Egypt and eventually, Europe were all created by the same mass migration of agro-pastoralists out of the fertile crescent hilly flanks following the discovery of Agriculture. East African cattle is genetically mostly from a Sudan domestication event and the rest component from Indian and we have found skeletons from these of Sudan cattle so it is strong evidence. I think for this region however, there may have been a cultural horizon of domesticating animals. Whose true origin is lost to time. Possibly spread with the migration of the first agriculturalists.

Sure, chat GPT won't be replacing lawyers cuz it will hallucinate shit but what if, you get a law A.I. that has been trained to only take up case examples from some huge data base, that removes your hallucination problem. I think there would still be lawyers but basically we will get once again the ability to cut them down by up to 90% or more.

  43. ​ @rb98769  I think Trans-Saharan Africa will in time transform how we think of the Neolithic Agricultural revolution cuz from there, the research points to different locations for the start of several major domesticated. Yam on the Atlantic Highlands, Sorghum in the Eastern Sahel, Rice in Senegal and another variant somewhere in the Niger basin. There's still another proposed core in the Sahara for I think millet, from where the founders of Tichitt arrived from. (East Asia also has a separate barley core in the North and a rice one to the south). I think Agriculture was in most places, a gradual shift from Forestry/Silviculture to Agriculture and West Eurasia was for the most part the exception with an explosion of full Agriculturalists from the Near East. As in, this transition from Silviculture to Agriculture occured there starting in the Natufian and then an explosion of exclusivist Agriculturalists from there when the area started to get dry(shifted to exclusive Agriculture also due to this event) instead of a gradual shift from Silviculture to Agriculture by their neighbours; while in most other places it was gradual shifting towards more and more Agriculture.

Tho, even there it was still marginal until colonization expanded it again. Usury also wasn't done away with, Usury's definition was progressively reduced so that taking interest could be justified as providing a service and taking on risk, therefore not making money from money (Usury) but making money from taking on risk, increasing economic efficiency, investing etc. And then after European states secularized (mid 1700s onward) the Church lost the power to enforce any Usury law and merchants and financiers could do whatever they want.
