  2. I see no problem with this. Why should it only be white men that are prosecuted for these hate crimes? Those thing that he called those cops are deeply offensive, there aren't many things you can say that are more dehumanizing to somebody than comparing them with somebody that supported a regime that murdered millions of people. It's about time we start seeing people of color taken to task for their racism.

  3. @Grand Inquisitor Not failing anybody isn't the problem. The problem is that the needed remediation isn't there. So, you get students that are passed from grade to grade that don't know what they're supposed to know. The way it's supposed to work is that those students are supposed to receive support catching up with the content that they didn't master. I have no idea what is supposed to happen if that content is everything though.

  4. Citation needed, there's a lot of high functioning drug users out there. Just because somebody seems to be fine doesn't necessarily mean that they're completely clean. Same goes for self-murder just because somebody doesn't seem to be depressed doesn't mean that they didn't self-murder.

Yes, they really should have included it, but IMHO that part of the joke is more obviously messed up and as such cutting it probably doesn't have as much of an effect as it might seem. Personally, I think he should have been allowed to host and to apologize on the air. Not a long speech or anything, but just a short one would be more than sufficient. He seems to have learned better and as such, I think he deserves to be allowed to demonstrate it.

  9. TBH, he should keep pushing through the primary, hoping that Biden screws things up, but at this point, the result is more or less inevitable. We're going to have another 4 years of Trump as the Democratic establishment and normie Democrats have proven themselves to be so horribly incompetent that their candidate is even less electable than Trump. It literally boggles my mind that people think that Clinton and Biden have any hope of beating Trump. Trump for all his flaws at least has a base that supports him. What do Clinton and Biden have? Buckets full of money and cronies that are willing to rewrite rules in order to steal the primary from the voters. I still don't understand how anybody expects them to win if they can't even win their own primary without a bunch of cheating.

  10. Yes, they should be held accountable. but, that being said, the corporations are handling it with varying degrees of integrity. I just got hired at a grocery store and while I won't get sick days for ages, anybody that tests positive does get pay for at least 2 weeks regardless of whether they just got hired or have been with the company for years. I'm not foolish enough to assume they're being generous, but generous or not, it would be foolish for them not to.

If there's a rape or sexual assault that's alleged to have happened, the right venue is the police, kicking students out of school and disciplining them based upon much lower standards is a violation of their rights.

  15. That doesn't let you leave it out. If you want to leave it out, you have to use ultra-pasteurized milk. The regular pasteurized stuff goes off pretty quickly both in terms of going sour and in terms of bacterial growth. Pasteurized milk can start to go a bit off just on the way home without refrigeration. Leaving it out is banned by the health code for a reason, not because it allows petty bureaucrats to issue citations and write restaurants up. Killing all the bacteria in food without destroying the nutrition or taste is extremely difficult which is why milk is rarely shelf stable without need for refrigeration.

Claiming that all sex work is the same and that we can't be opposed to paying for sex, without also being against pornography and the rest of it is disingenuous at best. Paying for sex has numerous issues that are hardly easily solved, suggesting otherwise is rather dishonest.

  18. We do, the standardized tests are graded in a standardized way. Your skin color or gender don't affect how the scores are tabulated. They may interpret how a student answers the question. In class, you can't have blind testing because then the teacher would have no way of knowing which students didn't grasp the information presented on the test.

  21. It's necessary because the previous rules were blatantly unconstitutional. These are criminal matters that the police and prosecutor should investigate before deciding if there's sufficient evidence for a trial. This is just doing an end run around that. Because the consequences don't involve a fine or jail time, the standards are lower than what you'd find in a criminal prosecution. Leading to young men that get kicked out of college and treated like criminals even when there's no evidence to substantiate the charges. If there were evidence to substantiate the charges, then there'd be no point in having the school involved as that can't bring prison time or monetary awards.

  22. @Jimmy Early, The schools aren't doing that though, they're placing the burden of proof on the accused, and denying him an attorney and the right to cross examine the accuser. In a situation like that, there's no hope of getting the truth, there's no guarantee that there even is a victim as often times both parties were drunk at the time and neither party was in any better position to consent than the other. Or, there's just no witness available, so there's no way of knowing whether or not there even was a crime committed. The only reasonable way of handling it is to make sure the cops find out and do their investigation. If there isn't sufficient evidence to move forward with criminal proceedings, then there shouldn't be consequences for the accused either,. Perhaps find some way of separating them when possible, but that's it.

And I doubt very much you'll find many Chinese people that are offended by the use of their own word as a descriptor. Now, you may find some American born Chinese, especially ones that don't speak Mandarin, that get offended by it, but the term itself is a literal translation of the correct term used when referring to the Chinese people. If one is going to be offended by the video, that is one of the least offensive things to be offended by. The video would have been just as offensive had he swapped out the more commonly used words for Chinese people.

  25. Please consider voting for the Green Party candidate rather than doing a write-in. That's probably the clearest way of communicating that you don't view the primary as legitimate and if enough of us do it, the Green Party might be able to hit that 5% they need for recognition.

  26. @Sarah Santos, women are paid the same as men are in terms of take home pay and grossly overcompensated when you look at the benefits packages that they receive. Just because feminists continue to lie about those facts, doesn't change it. If women really were being paid as little as you folks claim, then why are businesses bothering to hire men at all? Either it's not true or women are just crap at their jobs to be worth that much less. The studies that have been done have found it to be a statistical tie when you consider other factors that affect pay.

  27. TBH, the joke wouldn't have been a problem, if she wasn't benefiting from an oppressive system that puts some people in the position where they have to work these jobs or become homeless. For me personally, I'm lucky to not have to worry about eviction or going hungry. But, most are not so fortunate. Personally, I specifically took a job at one of the local grocery stores specifically because people need to be fed and since I likely already had it, it made sense for me to be on the front lines. I lack the necessary medical training, so it had to either be grocery store, shipping company or private security as those are all ways in which I could contribute. But, there is a certain logic to refusing to deliver or support the leaches that put us in the position of having an insufficient quantities of respirators, personal protective gear and means to produce whatever medications are found to be effective.

IIRC it's the Eggshell Skull doctrine or similar, basically it gets people off the hook for when the consequences of an action are more severe than what one would reasonably anticipate. Basically if you throw a rock at somebody's head, you should be responsible for the normal consequences of that, if they have a weaker than normal skull and are more seriously injured you shouldn't be accountable for the extra harm caused, just the reasonably expected harm. So in this case, if he had been taking drugs or had some other ailment that made him more susceptible to death or serious injury than normal, that should be taken into account. In this case, I doubt it would change anything, but an attorney would be negligent for not trying pretty much everything possible, except for issues that are being saved for appeal.

  38. Perhaps, but the gun came out after he refused to follow orders. My wife and I were pulled over yesterday and wer just answered the questions and followed his orders. His sidearm never came out. Pointing a weapon at a driver requires additional paperwork and is a real pain, even if nothing else happens. Cops don't normally go around pointing guns at random people, especially if they've got a body cam.

They held out for 11 days and got nothing that the republicans wouldn't have given them without the delay. They could easily have refused to pass any of the first 4 measures unless there were provisions for us in there. The people would understand a delay to support the frontline workers that are ensuring that people are safe, fed and cared for are being protected. Compared with the other delays in getting money to people, it would be a fraction of the time. I work at a grocery store filling online orders, and people are super supportive of us, it's the politicians that aren't.

  45. Agreed, there are historical reasons why white men are in the position they are and a lot of it has to do with being the drivers of the most important innovations of the last couple millennia. Having inequality is an issue, but let's not pretend like there's some sort of a conspiracy to keep these people down. There's plenty of white groups that had to deal with the same stuff, the difference is that rather than whining about it, they actually did something about it. These communities have plenty of resources to dig themselves out. Sure, it would be great to offer reasonable assistance, but groups like the Irish managed in spite of a more or less complete lack of help from other groups.

  49. The FDA does it because using the terminally ill as guinea pigs is deeply exploitative. The FDA permits some drugs with limited testing to be used in cases of rare medical conditions because there's little alternative. People like you are pretty much going to burn in hell for misrepresenting the issue. Those people are terminal, the likelihood of any of those medications making a difference is miniscule. It's far more likely that the medication will either do nothing or hasten their demise. The FDA and pharmaceutical companies have issues, but it's an egregious lie to suggest that the FDA is preventing people from getting safe and effective medicine in cases like that. Anybody that dies that wouldn't have due to that is a drop in the bucket compared with the people who die from lack of access to medications and treatments already approved.

You comply with the orders given and of they're not lawful, there is a legal process for handling that. You can refuse to obey unlawful orders, but don't be surprised if there's negative consequences. It's clear from the video that he wasn't complying with lawful orders. The aftermath of that wasn't legal, but he won't get an attorney as he's dead.
