TBH, I don't understand why townhouses exist. It's not just the bit of extra danger or the exhaustion, but those stairs take up a bunch of floor space. I'm so glad that the place doesn't have staircases in the units. One staircase can be shared by the 6 units with the wasted space being kept to a minimum and being shared between the units. Rather than each unit having to have it's own internal staircase to allow access to the rest of the unit.

@yeedbottomtext7563 Read the constitution, nowhere in it is there a right to individual gun ownership. The 2nd amendment is about the national guard being able to have weapons independently of what the feds think. And there certainly isn't a right to have enough gun power to take out a dozen or more people in a matter of minutes.
1
I've been wondering about those. Also, have a smoke detector. They aren't that expensive and the local fire department might even have some to hand out for free. They might even install it for you if you can't install it yourself. It should never have come down to that little girl figuring out to go get her dad to deal with the fire.
1
It kind of blows my mind that he thought those other people in line didn't know that she's morbidly obese. Now, if a bunch of people exchanged cash after hearing the number, that might warrant this report.
1
@teamseshmason Generally speaking, providing the opportunity is a legitimate sting, going the extra step of providing material support and/or plans would be entrapment. Simply baiting criminals with a bait car or fake packages isn't likely to rise to the level of entrapment.
1
@Samuel_Loegan He is a smart man. "Everybody has a plan until a tiger punches them in the bread basket"
1
@liamwatson5125 Sure you can, just make sure they're made of iron.
1
I definitely feel bad for the girl. She's clearly being screwed over by her parents and is now being embarrassed on TV. She's being set up for a lifetime of health problems and general misery. Unfortunately, your weight as a child is a bit of an indicator of what it's going to be later in life as it can be very hard to change those eating patterns later on.
1
Why? People rarely fall to their death there and there's already the means to climb it with reasonable safety.
1
Perhaps, but those folks already saw her, it's not like this was happening in the dark or with blindfolds on.
1
Aren't we already to? This constitutes battery. No assault, but that's just because it's being done from behind.
1
Sadly, that's not surprising. Childhood weight has a significant impact on how easy or hard it is to maintain a healthy weight as an adult.
1
It could have been handled better, but I don't fault the park here, a kid that overweight shouldn't be going on any sort of ride of that type. The stress on the heart is already going to be significant without the stress of the ride.
1
@stuwest3653 IKR, that happened to that famous stairway in Hawaii, people refused to be careful and they eventually closed it because they got sick of dealing with people hurting or killing themselves on it. They eventually went so far as to remove the stairs completely as people were ignoring the closedness of the stairs.
1
It's batter, but yes, this is already illegal. Assault would require that it be done in a way that the victim knew it was happening. Battery is just the actual contact.
1
@prefersoxygen9373 And yet, other countries don't have that problem. The Japanese and Brits both have strict laws involving guns where that doesn't happen.
1
Because it doesn't work. Only veterans that have seen action and complete psychos can be counted on to actually pull the trigger when push comes to shove. Not to mention that now rather than having one active shooter armed and running around, now you'd have more that the police have to worry about and the situation can go on longer. Really, the fewer people with firearms during a mass shooting the better.
1
Well, thank god nobody is going to actually deal with these guns. Better to just let them keep mowing down innocent people so that we don't get limited to a small number of weapons with a small amount of ammo that can be loaded at any given time.
1
Why not? Most people complete the hike without any sort of injury. This is one of those situations where in hindsight, I'd say she shouldn't have gone, but I'm not sure how I would have known to tell her that before she went on that hike.
1
Sadly, it's probably going to take an active shooter situation in the Supreme Court or one of the chambers of congress to get any actual movement on the issue. The Democrats love running on doing something about it, and the GOP loves running in opposition to any sort of substantive effort to reduce the risk.
1
@neoasura Show the right to high-powered weapons with massive ammo capacity in the constitution. You can't, because the right that's in there was never intended to allow for the private ownership of such weapons. It's the same reason why we're not allowed to own howitzers and chemical weapons.
1
Honestly, this would be f-ed up even if these people knew the prankster.
1
@humpteedumptee8629 There was also Milo and Otis. Animals can travel farther than people realize. Although, the likelihood of being eaten by a larger animal is a major risk. Not to mention being run over by a car.
1
A better use of that time would have been to invent a way of getting the politicians to actually do their jobs.
1
@Mike-01234 If it was put in by the rescue, then how would it have the information for this couple? And how would the information be up to date?
1
I wouldn't expect that to happen, I think it's probably just being floated in order to make the final selection less objectionable to the public.
1
I doubt they'll agree to that, but I'm sure there's going to be somebody somewhat less horrible that the public will view as acceptable since that person isn't as bad.
1
@meganschmidt548 You were probably also winded enough that climbing on top of them wasn't an option. Although, the alcohol probably helped a bit with that as well. That's the real risk of saving somebody that's drowning.
1
Aren't most of those the result of the machines tipping over? And shouldn't those machines be anchored to the wall so that that doesn't happen?
1
@BelgianCat Yes, that happened to me when I was a teen. The difference was that I was in a much smaller pond and was able to stand up. But, I was completely winded by the cold water, but even if I hadn't been able to get myself out, I was in waste deep water and my buddies could have gotten me out without risking their lives.
1
It's not a large number, in one of those cases noted in the video it was 19 people in like 50 years. That's typically more than a swimming pool or a typical street corner, but not really that many.
1
Possibly allergies, possibly moving someplace where they aren't allowed to have pets. Sometimes it's because the owner died.
1
It's possible, it's just unlikely for a cat to survive in the wild that long. Living in a home the record is roughly 39 years and the current oldest is 36. In the wild, it's going to depend a lot on luck and being able to avoid being eaten or run over by a car though.
1
The description says cramps, although it could also have been shock due to a sudden, and much colder, bit of water.
1
@glitter-lk5dz Yep, you have to be pretty fat in order to float with your head above water. I had a classmate that was kind of tubby and when we were swimming, he could just bob there with his head above water, most people though require some effort to keep their heads high enough to breathe or to keep themselves back floating.
1
@olive996 There's degrees of danger. The real issue here tends to be the stuff that might have been left just under the surface, the odd way that the water can circulate and the tendency of these places to not be easily reached via emergency responders. Even just people agreeing to stay in a relatively small area that can be reached more easily would probably help a lot.
1
And yet he appears rather annoyed at the inconvenience.
1
@jackieeeap2 It's cheaper to just offer pickup service than it is to have an employee walking with a customer from shelf to shelf unlocking things.
1
@SeanPat1001 Arguably this was an illegal wiretap.
1
@LynXthecat1 If he couldn't swim, he wouldn't have been so far out that nobody could get to him in time. Most likely it was a cramp or cold shock, neither of those go away if you know how to swim.
1
@ssmith65785 I've seen people that can't float even with air in the lungs. I'm still trying to figure that out, but they were extremely lean.
1
@maso4xx That's uncommon, but I have seen it.
1
@NuggieIsMissing Same, but look at the age of the kid, it was probably "Dat's going to kill me."
1
@aaryashapardesi3390 I heard Dad, but it was probably "dat's"
1
@20PINKluvr Privilege? They aren't that expensive. I've got one at both ends of my hallways and they're like 15' apart. (The second one was probably installed there because it's right next to the bedrooms)
1
@cheesygerit2299 Installing your own smoke detector is neither expensive nor particularly complicated. It's typically just a couple screws into the ceiling for the mounting bracket. I'd be surprised if there aren't any charities that give people the detectors for free just to avoid the issues that come from being killed in a fire. After all, you're never too old to die in a fire.
1
@DoylesDigs I think you'll find that falls on deaf ears.
1
I'm pretty sure that most women would appreciate a good "stare lift."
1
Not really, it usually happens either because you misjudge the step or the steps aren't even.
1
@レックウザさん Presumably, given that the comment was setup like that time Peter setup a cutaway gag.
