The membership pays for itself. I recently bought pharmacy items and spent $145. The exact same purchase at a drugstore would have been $300.

The membership pays for itself. I recently purchased items from the pharmacy area of Costco and spent $145. I compared the exact same items at a drugstore would have been $300. Not only that, their return policy is second to none. They also compensate and treat their employees well. And the hotdog and soda are still $1.50.

Those sound like the words of a sore loser. Don't bet on any team that Trump picks.

@ClassyJohn Spouses share a membership. You can always ask someone with a membership to get you what you want and pay them back. Obviously, Costco can't and wouldn't want to control that. To avoid having employees shop for everyone they know, instead of an employee discount, Costco pays a bonus twice a year to employees who are at the top of the salary range.

@alypauley In the scenario you described, if the parents need someone to shop for them on a regular basis, they could pay for the family member's membership card.
2
@alypauley I am aware of the two card per account which is meant for spouses. If an older couple would like someone else to shop for them (an adult child for example), the adult child could get their own membership and then their parents would cover the cost of the membership.

@shelbynicolecustoms1843 You won’t be missed. Costco shares are doing very well. The customers are happy. The investors are happy. The employees are happy.

@veronicablack3976 You have made my point. The membership fee and the hotdog and soda are still the same price. Costco is definitely not guilty of corporate greed.

If the card holder wants to buy things from Costco for their friends, no one is going to stop them. The membership pays for itself. @URRidikalus Trump has been quiet on the subject. That's a first.

@Saba316 Costco members had a meeting and voted you out. The $1.50 hotdog and soda is delicious and a great deal.
1
Not only is the hotdog and soda still $1.50, the membership fee hasn't been increased.

Costco has over 800 locations worldwide. The membership pays for itself. I recently purchased items from the pharmacy area of Costco and spent $145. I compared the exact same items at a drugstore would have been $300. Not only that, their return policy is second to none. They also compensate and treat their employees well. And the hotdog and soda are still $1.50.

Feel free to pay more for glasses elsewhere. The membership pays for itself. I recently purchased items from the pharmacy area of Costco and spent $145. 1
@Saba316 It’s not a forced membership. If you're unhappy with the membership, you can get a refund. Same with any merchandise. The return policy is second to none. There are a few restrictions with electronics. Glasses at Costco are much cheaper than anywhere else. That may be why your optometrist hates Costco.

Obviously not. If you want to buy things from Costco for your friends, no one is going to stop you.

@chrisandrafranklin1735 That makes no sense. If you have to buy toilet paper, doesn’t it make sense to spend less.
1
@chrisandrafranklin1735 If you can't afford the membership card, how can you afford to pay more for toilet paper? That makes no sense.
1
@chrisandrafranklin1735 Indeed. It's a free country. If you want to pay more for toilet paper, no one is going to stop you.

Wrong. The membership pays for itself. I recently purchased items from the pharmacy area of Costco and spent $145. I compared the exact same items at a drugstore would have been $300. Not only that, their return policy is second to none. They also compensate and treat their employees well. And the hotdog and soda are still $1.50.
1
@Saba316 Again, the Costco members had a meeting and voted you out. The hotdog and soda combo is still $1.50 despite inflation.
1
You are wrong. Not only is the hotdog and soda still $1.50, the membership fee has not increased. Costco pays and treats their employees well. All of that is the opposite of what a greedy corporation would do.
1
@ramrv43 The Costco story began in 1976. Everything has gone up since then. Recently, Costco has resisted raising their membership fee. Costco execs went on record last September saying you didn’t have to worry about member prices going up anytime before January 2023. But now that we’re past that date, it’s “a question of when, not if” fees will go up, and that they’ll let us know as soon as they have a date. Historical increases have been $5 to $10.

@alypauley There is a limit on the number of guests you can bring into the warehouse. However, you can buy stuff for your friends and they can reimburse you. You can always request a separate receipt to make it easier.

Quite the opposite. Not only is the hotdog and soda still $1.50, the membership fees have not increased.

@angelasoWA Safeway sells soda at a loss to get customers in the door. It's called a loss leader.
1
@@BumpyBrown2 Quite the opposite. Costco has resisted raising their membership fee recently. Also, Costco treats and pays its employees well. If you want to pay more for toilet paper, it's a free country. No one is going to stop you.

@chriswilliams2397 Agreed. If you have a membership policy, it should be consistently enforced to be fair to those who do pay for a membership.
