You compare them because you're being low-brow. The fact that they are more socialist in the Netherlands means less vulgar attempts at libertarianism [muh gender freedom] and less praising of crude communist ideals [anti-white, anti-proletarian, bourgeoisie]. This is an insuperable fact. They have no need to "go there" because there is no calling to, people are generally more happy, and able to maintain a more consistently conservative attitude.
