  1. A real meritocracy in academia would be a means of working on precisely what you want to work on, and nothing more. And no, that isn't an endorsement to the progressive Marxist pedagogy. Electives are really not conducive to a true meritocracy. This is reconcilable through only one means, the dismantling of the education system, as it currently stands.
