@timothygeiger8271 yes, lucrative is good to me. I'm in Virginia, that is why.

40:34 gotta love to hate those scammers. Usually the lead caller passes off to the next guy to sink the hook and the next one to close. Guess you were too friendly and they figured you had their number.😊 I wanted to see who they thought they were calling.

Procrastinating a trip to the store. I have a three prong led light to install in my attic, the latest project, but the one outlet up there only has a two prong. I thought about cutting the third ground prong off the light, but trying to keep things legit. I see your extension cords are already sporting a cut off third ground prong. Yeah! Love demo days. Just pulled an ac unit that would fit in your closet. It is in my garage in case I want to use it, but not sure if adding power use to my house.

Ugh, half way thru and so many questions. Guess I have to watch. You are putting the bottom radiator brackets in, without the electric fan in place. Also, how are you going to flush, without running any milkshake through the new equipment?

Thanks to this video, I found the exact same issue on my 2001 PT Cruiser. I never would have found this and would have spent money on parts needlessly. Rainman, you saved my butt, or at least my PT Cruiser. I am dealing with a starter issue, the original just gave up and I put a new one in today. Ran a little while, starting fine and then while also trying to find out why the interior lights weren't timing out, the start stopped working. After it cools down, I will troubleshoot. The original starter was definitely bad. This is a new, not remanufactured starter. I did trace the start wire to the solenoid and know it wasn't a relay type issue.
1
Additional note. When mine was bad, I would rev the engine up and it would start missing above 2500 rpm.

How the heck do you transition between camera views, yet your audio is seamless? Showing the axle being inserted from different angles, while talking and no interruption. Two cameras and edited together? I would love to just watch and see how you film and edit these videos.

I have to say that jobs I would have viewed as impossibly complex, you have a way of showing how it is pretty basic and involves taking off things in a certain order. Granted that I have no lift and a shop full of tools, but over the last few months, I've taken on a lot of my own car repairs and now view them in a different way. One thing is replacing gaskets. I make a point to have them ahead of my job. Not replacing them will make it a repeat job for sure. Where I live there is an auto parts shop every miles and different dealers everywhere. But if I take a job on without my parts in hand, they probably won't be. Which due to shipping and places like Amazon, I've had true second day and even a same day delivery.

At 45:12 you mention needing to wire it backwards. We of so little faith, should know Ray has it together to know this.
1
My 2006 Kia Sportage has some bonky bonky noises whenever I hit and bumps or pot holes. Nothing serious or loose enough to easily feel loose when I move the car or jack it up and move anything associated with the tires. I'm thinking it's the strut. I would for sure order the whole assembly if I decide to replace the struts. Since it's more annoying than serious, it probably won't happen for a while.

Grease those pins. "There's really no reason not to." I like all the little extras that get done, but are not itemized out on a bill, just because it's the right thing to do.
1
Maybe you should have at least done the extraction part with your new machine, prior to changing the seal and stayed a bit cleaner. 😆
1
42:13 the sign of a good technical minded person, being able to visualize different scenarios in their mind and come up with ways to work around things.
1
I never knew how to do that electric conduit. I would have attacked it with a hacksaw. Your video is worth my time already.
1
24:00 wasn't the other car something other than a sonata? Maybe there was more room to reach in there?
1
What was that mesh looking cover over the air filter? Was it another layer of protection for the filter itself?

These days I do more listening than watching on your channel. Since I can imagine what you are doing and only occasionally need to watch. I either use my ear beats to do my things and just listen to you talk or I play you on my TV and still mostly listen. You do a very good job at describing what you are doing, and thinking, etc. Plus, you are so versed in everything you do and give such great breakdowns on what you are doing and explaining the reasons why and how, that it's a learning experience with every post.

Napkin hoarder, plugs vent.
1
It sure surprised me that that spline shaft was so long.
1
Can't believe you would install a customer provided part of any type. I can't find one that does that, they all want to sell me more expensive parts. I understand why, but it has made me a better mechanic doing it myself.
1
Given most situations on a vehicle, probably having to remove anything in the exhaust system would be my last ditch effort or enough to make me think twice if I want the headache. Some bright engineers need to redesign them so they don't meld together and require torches, extreme heat and dealing with broken studs and such. At least you have a lift. I've only done them on the floor, being a home mechanic.
1
Earlier in another video, you mentioned it looking like a strawberry shake, but on my screen, it looked more tan, yet the lighting must be better, because the Pepto bismol pink is much easier to see.
1
Trying to watch at a bounce house birthday party that my granddaughter is attending. I couldn't hear it, even if there was good audio.
1
14:06 that wire wheel would definitely do a job on those latex gloves if snagged.
1
39:52 nice that it already is glued to the foam. I did one, but couldn't come up with the foam. It showed every little dimple. It sucked for sure. Plus I didn't have any material to use and went to a fabric store. I didn't want it to look like Grandma's couch and instead got some snake skin looking material. That was so ghetto and sucked to look at, plus the work I put into it. This was in Hawaii and I had a minimum of places to work with. When I moved to Virginia, I paid a couple hundred dollars at an upholstery shop to have it done. It was soooo much better.
1
New T shirt material. "She's A Cute Machine" You called you daughter that and she is one. My 7 year old granddaughter has been my partner since birth and its amazing the great stuff that has come out of her mouth over the years.
1
20:17 Lauren restrain that man's wallet. No more projects and future builds.
1
After seeing a few GMC vehicles worked on, I really doubt I would want to ever have one.
1
2:05 yellow bottles get confusing. Different fluids in yellow bottles can lead to issues. At least it has for me.
1
32:39 is safety an issue in your shop? Ya just gotta beat it into them before they get hurt. Not that I'm a good example. I could have been a poster boy at work for what not to do.😊
1
That customer really went for some work today. I can only guess how much they paid. With that much work, having a video record is of great value. Maybe one day people will keep the videos of their services to show the next owner. It might add value to the vehicle.
1
I enjoyed watching this video for no other reason than just to see excellent work being done. So the bolts underneath don't require any torquing?
1
Billboard? You realize you would have to grow if you had a sudden influx of people that would expect quick repairs and not on your time frame? That seems like a lot of extra pressure, and money spent, before you could see return. Might as well throw out having vacations and home early days. If you can keep two techs and three lifts busy, then enjoy the pace. I can relate to having the billboard, but do you really want what would come with it?
1
I picked up a set of those scrubby pad discs and am using them yesterday and today while cleaning and rebuilding a couple lawn mowers. They do work nice on my drill.

Back when I lived on Maui and a dump site, now closed, was a popular place to go savaging, especially with the bottle and can deposit programs, a lot of people would be there all day, looking for recyclables and "treasures". Then one day the tractor with huge spikes for wheels, was backing down the trash mountain, an elderly man was behind him and apparently didn't hear him and the operator didn't see the man. Basically the guy was killed. That ended the practice of picking through the rubbish, at least legally.
1
It's too bad some engineer couldn't design on completely plug and play modular. I learned with mine, that just digging in and removing things is a way of life with my PT.
1
I want to go look mine over, even though I have no issue. 😆
1
It drives me nuts that all the socket and wrench sets seem to not have consecutive sizes wrenches and sockets. I always have to go and buy the ones not included and then their carrying case has no room for the extra ones. What is the reasoning behind this? It's not like the missing size is never used.
1
I keep getting ads for buckets and drums of brake kleen and other degreasers. Did you mention you had some bulk coming? Is there a cleaner that uses it and pressure sprays it? What about an ultrasonic parts washer? I love how well the cleaners work. Generally I do a good soaking or two and then use a high pressure water hose or power washer. Hard to do in a shop, so mine are driveway repairs. The problem is a can doesn't go very far and they are a bit expensive.
1
If you reversed the steering gear hoses, would the steering have been opposite? Turn left, steer right, turn right, steer left.😮😊
1
These cars you work on drive my OCD crazy. They all have a ton of leaves stuck below the windshield, wipers and along the fenders. It's fall here in Virginia and I'm constantly de-leading all my cars.
1
What would you do without a good pry bar? Everything is a hammer, but not so much with pry bars.
1
I probably could find your shop, just by the number of PT Cruisers sitting around inside and outside. 😆
1
Outside seals should be a must. The second axle there was a lot of reddish rust when removed and all the dirt, mud and grime just fills in the axle housing.
1
That air powered cleaning wheel sounds like the dentist's office and make me cringe.
1
The brake lines are looking pretty crusty. My 2004 Dodge Dakota has some too. I have all the lines sitting here to replace. Even a new master cylinder. I replaced the booster because it had a core charge due to expire soon. The new booster worked great. Super nice breaks now. I never knew much about adjusting the shaft that goes into the master cylinder. Now I know a bunch. My worry now is with the new booster and stopping power, I just hope it doesn't blow any rusty lines before I can replace them. I'm not looking forward to that job for sure.
1
Nissan guys! Is there a better way to get the oil pan off, without jacking the engine up?
1
Its crazy just how many small, seemingly insignificant parts, can create such a problem.
1
I wonder what your kids think or will think about their dad that works in cars and talks the whole way through.😊
1
I find myself holding my breath so often as Ray is waiting for an unclick.
