And yes the Americans did the most, on a global scale, you must be very bad at math if you can't see that. But as I said also, that doesn;t make them better, they just had more stuff, more natural resources., more people. Oh and in 1943, most American GI's would have at least one grandparent that was not born in the US, they were a melting pot of a hundred nations.

  2. well, if an alien with absolute zero bias would study WW2 I am pretty sure the conclusion will be that indeed the USA was the largest contributor to the war effort, but that doesn't make them better than others who did what they could with the resources they had. It just means that the USA had by far the most resources and manpower.

  5. it's ok in your situation to dislike russians in general, as long as you keep in mind that individuals can be good people. But it;s ok to vote for policies that limit or ban russian culture in your country and promote estonian culture. russians that want to stay there should transform into estonians.... maybe not in 1 generation, but certainly in future generations and their kids should grow up as estonians... If they don't like that they can sod off. that's my opinion.

  6. Become 100% citizens of your new country, raise kids as <new countrians> (if any) and basically forget about Russia and cut all ties (you can keep a few nostalgic memories) Russia is a failed state, and it won't recover until it gets much worse.

  7. I visited Estonia this summer as a tourist. no goats to be seen. But the city was nice, you can see the progress everywhere. Cost of living is high though, high prices for the common people

  8. it certainly got on my short list of places to visit. Now i wanted to visit a former soviet country anyway and so far only have been to the baltics, who are arguably the most converted to a modern western country of all of them , so they barely count. So this one moved to the top of the list , together with Ukraine , which I don't know I should visit right now. (Do I help them with the little money my visit would bring or am I a hindrance visiting a country in war )

  15.  @crystal4ik  Turkey is much better than Russia , ALL of south america (except Venezuela) is better. As for Africa, some countries are better, some are worse. But right now I would trade Russia for any African country that is not in a war itself.

Without all the support, Ukraine would have been overrun.   31.  @pradyumnac  Because the Dutch government has been denying applicants from safe countries for 40 years... they are not idiots, they know he lives here in Georgia and not in Russia. His tourist status doesn't matter. Being Russian is not a criteria to get asylum status, unless maybe you are a well known political opponent of the Kremlin. The Netherlands is a small country and already has a refugee crisis.   32. there are some good books about Russia, they basically lived under tyranny rule from the 1400s till the 21th century. They never had democracy, never knew how it worked, that's why it immediately collapsed after the USSR collapsed .

  37.  @minime7375  the Baltics look like West Europe (as long as you stay in the capitals) Everything is modern, the shops, the public transport, the banking system. you will see more Lamborghini's and Porsches in Riga than in Amsterdam the rural areas are still old. As for ukrainian border guards, I hope to meet them one day. No matter their reputation before the war, this invasion has focused the whole country towards the west. I am pretty sure I have nothing to fear

  38. normal russia is an utopia, it will never happen. The best thing good Russians like him can do is to eventually emigrate forever to another country, and get a new nationality... Start a family (if they want) and start a new family tree of non-russians.. That country will be cursed for decades to come... Best to abandon it completely.
