@raandoomneesssTV I think it’s called character and hard work. It certainly has been done by many successfully.
10
@modenasolone Wow. Now THAT is revisionist history.
9
@raandoomneesssTV Still worth a try! Beats whining!!!
7
We did in the form of casinos.

This is a prime example of a HUGE problem in America: AN EXCESSIVELY IRRESPONSIBLE MEDIA! This isn’t reporting. It’s nonsense. When did journalism programs in schools drop the idea of journalistic integrity? ITS NOT A JOURNALISTS JOB TO PERSUADE OR EVEN TO OPINE. ITS TO REPORT. That means, if you want to be taken seriously, you present BOTH arguments AND counter arguments. Otherwise it’s pointless and a waste of time.

OR…that will be first in a long line of similar demands. What if $ money is paid and it’s blown foolishly by a % of recipients. Won’t recipients be back where they started? What’s to prevent further demands? More importantly, for those recipients who squander payment, won’t they still live in crime ridden, violent neighborhoods with little opportunity? And what will they teach their kids, if anything? Won’t the cycle continue? How will things change.
6
And there are just as many things black parents and black communities should be doing but aren’t. It boggles my mind how people always seem to try to solve their problems by looking at what other people can do or should do for them. It’s a little disingenuous when parents and communities aren’t doing what THEY must do to effect change. Society nor the government are supposed to act as babysitters.

@Alex Alex The thing is this ISNT a civil rights movement. They call it that but it’s a name only. Most of it is just whining about what “SHOULD BE” which none of us need to be told. This is not about “racism” because “racism” as their using it doesn’t exist anymore. It is economic inequality for sure, but I’m afraid we’re ALL facing that problem regardless of skin color. All this anger and angst is entirely misplaced. This nonsense is just a red herring to distract us while a handful of individuals stuff their pockets pulling equity out of companies in the form of stocks. While something like 20 million people in this country are facing eviction and homelessness in 6 weeks and 75% of this country lives pay check to paycheck, Warren Buffet alone made $440 million in the month of May last year. Know what he did with that money? He invested it in China! THAT is what the handful don’t want us to see or pay attention to. Our last leader wouldn’t stop saying how well the economy was doing and in the next breath he and his cohorts fought ardently AGAINST raising minimum wage to $15 per hour. Make sense to you? We better stop this nonsense and wake up before they hoard it all. If that happens, it will end democracy and no one will care what any of us have to say. They won’t have to care because they will control everything.
5
And let’s not forget the industrial revolution in the north where white European immigrants toiled in factories for 12 hours a day and survived in circumstances and conditions often worse than black slaves in the south.
5
Ridiculous

First step in Evanston is to DEMAND a hand out? Way to go….
3
@modenasolone . Wow! You are sooooooo wrong. Maybe a refresher American History class would help you……
3
@theguythatcoment . So you are AGAINST private ownership of property? Then why would everyone give it to you. It WONT happen, but please, by all means, hold your breath……
3
@taxfreeenterprise2253 I will add that in a democracy WE ARE the government!
2
@cherylshaw8563 That. May have been true 60 years ago. But since then policies have changed, affirmative action was instituted, etc. Efforts at rectifying disadvantage have been made if not taken advantage of. At what point does it become the I dividual’s personal responsibility to make better choices toward their objectives?
2
@Galimah One payment to who?
2
Raising the minimum wage should be a no brainer IF the economy is doing so well. But it isn’t. Why because CEO salaries are going up exponentially compared to workers salaries and let’s not forget their golden parachutes of 10s if not 100s of millions of dollars paid out first by the company even if the ceo has run the company into the ground. You see the problem with basing economic performance assessment in large part on the performance of the stock market is that the stock market is in many ways itself a huge ponzu scheme. It’s based on public opinion for the most part. It allows those most fortunate to pull equity, particularly the sweat equity of the people who actually make the company
2
@theguythatcoment you can be as against it as much as you want, but that is reality. If your advocating doing away with private property, you better have a system to replace it with. What do you propose?
2
As opposed to Republicans……….?
2
The sad thing is Republicans will perpetuate whatever their told to by people who claim to be on their side. Hate to break it to you red states (unvaccinated by in large) the people telling you what to believe have nothing but contempt for you. Baby Huey himself made that clear. To them, you’re just ignorant pawns that can be manipulated to do their bidding when they have absolutely NO INTENTION of sharing the spoils with you.
2
And that warrants a payment 160 years later? The Tulsa Massacre wasn’t really a massacre. It’s been spun as a massacre but the facts don’t mesh with that.
2
Dear, that wouldn’t be evidence of racism, it would be evidence of American Opportunity, the American way, the reason we all came here to begin with.
2
But grandfather was given room and board which would have to be subtracted. I’m afraid if salary is commensurate with their counterpart laborers in the north, not much would be owed.
2
These aren’t facts dear. Theyre opinions and interpretations.
2
“Back pay” for that? So that means EVERYONE affected by those things, right? Because those things weren’t exclusive to black people. And of course without urban renewal and eminent domain the value of those properties wouldn’t be what they are today. So how do you calculate that and what other criteria will you use to determine this “Backpay”? Sounds like you want to compensate people for what might have been, but how can anyone know what that would be. So what about the people that DID put their heart and soul into building something. They should give up what they have because of what might have been? Not possible. Now if you are advocating for a restructuring of education funding to increase quality of education across the board as a form of reparations, I’m all for it. But giving out checks for what might have happened? Not going to happen. Also, “black town raids”? Could you give example.
2
@fritzdeuces Sure. They can get compensated for unpaid labor, minus room and board to be fair. I’m afraid if they are to fair as well as their white industrial laborer counterparts in the north, what’s left over would be negligible.
2
But first the community has to change itself. That means teaching respect for the law, standing up against law breakers in the community, putting time and effort into instilling the right things in your children, working hard to help yourselves and respecting the society that lets you do it. Democracy is a gift, not a right. You need to realize that. If we continue circling the toilet bowl there will be no more democracy and then you’ll really see what oppression is like. It will be overt. There will be no discourse because there will be no choice.
2
Ain’t going to do that without significantly better education!
2
“Currently being discriminated against.” Could you be a bit more specific?
1
Sorry. You cant count that ship as the captain was English, working through a Dutch company. You’ll have to ask them.
1
What are you missing? TRUTH
1
@journeyman378 See what exactly?
1
@richardovervold it’s pathetic, isn’t it? Your statistical analysis is correct. It’s the woman in the video who is omitting and spinning facts. Don’t they realize they lose all credibility when they do that?
1
@journeyman378 oh and btw Native black Americans?????
1
@journeyman378 . Catch up to what pray tell?
1
@journeyman378 . Oh I’m sorry, you can’t understand? Maybe the words are too big for you. Funny, you certainly seem to believe you know it all. I’m surprised you can’t understand let alone articulate a response but I understand…..
1
@Ajibolaa I don’t think the point requires mean composition. I think the point was that a number of black Americans are doing quite well compared to the rest of Americans as is true of any representative group in society. What about them? Do they make too much to get reparations? They have profited in and from this country more than many. Should they be excluded? Couldn’t it be argued that any black American that makes more than “x” amount of dollars, has already comparatively benefited from society? And what about those black Americans who do not work. Should they get as much as those who do?
1
@heritagekarma888 How about “Get a job?”
1
@fritzdeuces I promise you America’s great divide is NOT Because of slavery. It makes a great red herring to keep people distracted, but that’s all.
1
Stalling? Noooooo. Giving patronizing lip service? Yeeessss.
1
Oops! Hate to tell you Kenneth, but there is no justice system left in this country. Our system wasn’t designed to work in as economically stratified as we’ve become. It’s NOT about race. It’s about MONEY. If we don’t stop those hoarding it now, all of these conversations will be moot and democracy will be dead.
1
@cherylshaw8563 Right, Dr King fought to end such practices 60 years ago AND WON. Discriminatory policies were made illegal. Life isn’t “fair” for anyone dear. You can’t change the past: only the present and future. Can you articulate the change you want going forward? Because I have yet to hear anything articulated. What is it YOU want in present and future?
1
@I_know_im_wrong_but Not my ancestors dear. They didn’t come to this country until early 20th century and were far from welcome. The point is that back then, survival was the goal of all. Having a roof overhead and enough food to stay alive. Much of this country was still the wild frontier. Remember the Donner Party. That was mid 19th century. There were no plains, trains, or automobiles in those days and far fewer choices for everyone. And BTW, Tulsa was NOT a massacre, it was a race riot with deaths on both sides. During the riot, because of the towns construction, it went up like a tinderbox and burned down. In fact, after the riot, new building codes were enacted specifically to avoid that happening again.
1
@asdfghjkl3003 it’s called eminent domain and private owners are compensated. That makes sense.
1
Don’t forget to subtract food, shelter and clothing from that number……
1
Oh please!
1
Oh come on. Surely you can figure that one out.
1
@MustardSkaven Hey mustard. I’m not one who thought it was weird.
1
@autumnjade815 Responded to Galimeh by mistake.

@autumnjade815 But I sent my response to someone else by mistake.
