They were fed and housed by the owners, which is more than many of their white counterparts could get from wage labor. This country was largely built by the industrializing north.

  28.  @lorebay2593  I wish people would STOP using the buzz phrase “generational wealth.” It is a concept that probably applies today to about 1-5 % of the population. Today children are having to support their aging parents along with their own children. Plus, now that humans are living considerably longer than in the past, vast amounts of money will be spent on keeping old people alive regardless of the quality of life. Did you know that it’s estimated something like 80% of a persons medical expenditures during their lifetime will be spent during the last 3-5 years of life. When you consider something like 70% of this country lives paycheck to paycheck, “generational wealth” is not a viable expectation for anyone.

HELL NO!!! Am I doing everything I can to educate myself enough to defeat the culprits in the game? YES! Do I struggle against literally wishing ill on the culprits? EVERYDAY! Is it very possible the culprits will get away with it no matter what I do? YES! I hate to tell you this, but this kind of shit happens to lots of people no matter the color. But there are 2 things I’ve learned: 1) There are no guarantees or promises coming into this life. You get what you get and that’s it, and 2). If you spend this life focusing on what you didn’t get instead of what you did, you will waste your time on this earth struggling to lug the chains of hate, resentment, and self-pity around with you. Take who you are and what you DID get and make the absolute most of it!! Remember, LIVING WELL IS THE BEST REVENGE!!!!!

That means the “systemic racism” you speak of didn’t effect or stop them. How do you reason with that? Life is not usually “fair” for anyone. These couldn’t have been “bombs” as we know them today. More like 1/2 full liquor bottles lit and dropped by hand.

Imagine that for a minute. People got news in print or by word of mouth. Hell, the automobile was just beginning a commercial market. Only about 10% of the population in the US had a car and we’re talking Oklahoma, which still resembled the wild Wild West you see on tv today. YOU MUST PUT ALL OF THIS INFORMATION YOU’RE GETTING IN THE CONTEXT OF IT’S TIME or you can not really understand it.

The other half seem to be the ones demanding reparations, but it’s a hollow argument. I’ll have you know the oligarchs, or the 2%ers, the billionaires are well represented by all races. The past certainly didn’t hold them back.

It’s the truth. I don’t know where you get your statistics, but you are wrong. As I said before, about 1/2 of black Americans in this country are doing as well as anyone else and they are well represented in the upper echelon. Now that’s a poser, isn’t it? How do you explain that? How did they escape “the freaking poor house” and the mysterious policies to keep blacks poor? It does indeed “Take Money to Make Money.” So make some money! I’m gonna take a wild guess that you are under the age of 30. Please don’t waste opportunity and youth waiting for a personal check that will never come. Figure out what you want and get it done!
