And well the printing press really does make sense for comparison even through that lens because beforehand you had to have the writings of People to get their knowledge and it'd really only be preserved once somewhere. Compared to the printing press where you could distribute thousands of copies. And now I have to Wonder if the printing press is what allowed the rapid acceleration that allowed the rest of the inventions of the industrial age to occur.

  4. It was, but it was also fairly localized, affecting the great plains, a frontier zone not being the powerhouse of US food (it's one part in a larger zone which makes the breadbasket), and thus not the whole culture. It's also notable in basically being the only famine the US has ever known.

Sparta didn't completely control Athens, Russia split Poland among 3, and the French only got part of the Netherlands. Also if you only hold the territory for a couple of years before it getting completely taken away from you it seems like less of a complete conquest. But of course the conditions for language development are no longer around given audio and visual recordings we keep with us and still use. Due to that, accent and language shift will likely slow. But that's the only part that is slowing. And frankly it applies to every language on earth now.

  8. It's a pretty common trend for people to "leave the left because they left me" as the extremism got intense and it's how figures like Tim Pool have gotten famous. Due to the high purity function they've developed, they're growing increasingly cult like and then accusing their opponents of being in one instead. The left were in vogue and then has started the process of losing everyone old enough to remember what it was to not be an extremist. Problem is they also hold power but hate using force meaning that they're the least violent of the extremists and thus far harder to deal with. And thus trying to goad the right (who is far more willing to use force, and deadly force specifically), into a violent reaction would be a way to justify action against them they're otherwise handcuffed to.

The UK proper suffers the least from this due to pure proximity but still exemplifies this in its old attitudes where it effectively said "Those silly continentals are at it again" until one gets too powerful. Each of these places are effectively islands completely removed from nearly any threats and events happening literally an ocean away. History doesn't happen to you when you've got huge barriers separating you from everybody else. History happens far away.

B: The thing with the US is that he's gone over why he thinks it'll stay alive without much issue: the US is having a bad day. Ideas like Healthcare being a basic principle of a democratic society is kind of naive and more reflects your own personal beliefs than anything inherent or can be compared to history. The US has internal tensions but France went from being invaded in 1790 to 1810 going on to face off multiple coalitions. That's 20 years of not much and there isn't really any dooming Achilles heel the US faces. C: The Hispanic integration is one of statistical fact. Say what you want about the blacks but US born Hispanics marry into the white population at 40% and Asians at 45%. And since Hispanics are primarily over 60% white by grandchildren it would make that generation only 10% non-European. As a population we also are definitely more invested in the US System than our home systems which is why we left in the first place. So what that indicates is that there will be a strong cultural heritage but ethnically Hispanics will be known as white like everything else. Also come on you really believe that racism nonsense? Racism happens but it's so little against us lmao I think you've been watching a bit too much TV. D: European collapse into war and extremist groups would be after the coming demographic collapse which will in real-terms destroy their societies. Yeah no desire for war now but when everything has gone to shit? E: American neo-colonialism of Europe will in no way have the intention of colonialism and you seem to have not been paying attention if you missed that part. The entire idea about it is that it's an attempt to actually protect Europe and prevent it from collapse where the US continually tries to let it be free but it can't keep itself together without the US military and so it just keeps coming back until it's a permanent presence. F: Sweden and Norway joining would be a trend of smaller countries joining together to survive in a world where countries are just bigger. I hope this alleviated any issues.

  15. To be fair Japanese culture, and specifically honor culture, is a lot about taking pride in what you do. It inherited that bit from confucianism but the biggest issue here is that it really helps in getting dedicated workers who base their lives around that stuff. In fact they base it so heavily their lives are even more strict than normal westerners as their whole lives are getting into good schools from elementary school to get into the next level of good competitive school to eventually get a good job. Since their entire lives basically revolve around that at that point it's a mark of pride. And it just ends up making really taxing jobs because the populace isn't willing to do things like try to get better hours and doing something like that brings shame. It's a very different way of meaning which happens to fit really well into having workers who will do anything. I think a great example of how ingrained the workplace is in lives is how couples frequently find each other at work and it's accepted. There's nothing taboo about it like there is in the west. Hell workplace trainings have explicitly told me such things are bad because they cause conflicts of interest. When that's your entire life kids become secondary and really just a point of duty to your family line.

Ultimately the humanist philosophies by putting humanity first, do treat him as a god in his own right. They deify his status as one who can carve the world. It's not a humble philosophy and even the alleged "arrogance" of "the world being created for you" comes with asterisk of "Yeah you humans really can't do much alone" which ends up at a completely different characterization. Kind of just started exploring and then went "Oh let's just see what else is here" and then found something profitable. And many many people are willing to take significant financial losses to do this as well as the fact that it requires significant investment to further bring down the cost. Realistically, the limiting factor here is that there will be no real gain for a long time and so the only way to pursue it is via a childhood dream basically.

Rick, the selfish nihilistic genius who crosses the multiverse and has the powers of a god, finds himself in a situation he cannot solve and faces death. He willingly did so in order to save his grandchildren and at that moment he says he is okay with his action. He then immediately finds his way out, says a small prayer to God as he tries to fix the device to enable him to escape, and then tells God "fuck you" as he succeeds. Because of the nature of the event, the other versions of him do similarly and kneel down praying, only to assert there is no God upon escape.

  23. Honestly it seems like America will probably be what it was always kind of destined to be: a mega Britain (but without continental affairs to affect it). It's 18th century Britain allowed to stretch across a continent and the ability to sustain a population. I think the biggest thing for the coming centuries is if the US will basically just be the naval mirror to China. It's difficult to look to historical precedent because the US is still a relatively new country on the world stage and is really the sole relevant power on a continent which didn't exist in the eyes of the world until a few hundred years ago and thus is still finding its footing in that regard. I really do see the trajectory for it to be much like a China interfering with the world system occasionally and other times just ignoring it because it doesn't have to bother. It also much like China has a very strong tendency toward isolationism because of its value of being left the hell alone and not really having to care. Island diplomacy on a continental scale as you put it in one video and so shares a lot with the similarly isolated China. I really wish I could go ahead and see what happens in a thousand years from the history books.

Because for a long time that land was just crap but with better plows invented it was able to till that soil. Rocky mountains in the way of unity? Build trains or take ships! Or just deal with the journey regardless. The natural resources like oil are also quite handy but let's face it, if they didn't they'd just take it from the Canadians lol. The US BECAME a hub of trade thanks to its large resource grain exports and its large burgeoning industry. The US basically just improvise, adapted, and overcame. Rivers really did help with the Louisiana purchase land though.

The ability to cross culture and thus increase the spread of pop culture does lead to more shared pillars of things to communicate with others regarding... but that's about it. The homogenization you're speaking of in real terms isn't happening. You're also asking Ireland to go in a direction it no longer can. Gaelic when in real terms... it doesn't exist. At least not how it did. And it can't be revived at this point. It's like asking to revive Roman or Pre-Norman England. It doesn't work. It's not an English colony either it is English core territory the same as the Americans are. And frankly this is the channel that spoke about the 9 nations of North America. So you should know just how different nations are even if they don't end up completely ethnic. Simping for a slave society that died due to its own weakness and inability to be in touch with reality and a weak confederation that was dominated by larger states and unable to coordinate to such an extent that larger powers tore it apart with ease is also LAUGHABLE. The HRE was stuck in the middle ages and in many ways China still carries the bronze age legacy and both suffered heavily for it (not that you mentioned China but giving another country that also has had also been socially stagnant). We're in the industrial world and most pre-industrial legacies have to adapt or die and you're picking simping for the specific societies that died because they could not adapt. And frankly you should know how little sense being an identitarean of that nature is given how Ireland had so much cross pollination with England. It is not an imperial legacy like India, Africa, or Malaysia. It is one like Canada, Australia, and even the US. We have create new ideas for this industrial world. And either old ones adapt well or they too must die. And we've seen how they've done so with things like NatSoc. Twice.

  26. @James Furey The dynamism that Anglo culture has is a willingness and capacity to change. Rapidly too. In fact the issue the US has is a willingness to change too fast. Frankly you see very high assimilation from most groups. And honestly the ones with the least capacity for assimilation are the Muslims. But beyond that most populations that come in are compatible enough to assimilate. Also I want to separate Anglos from the broader western community since for all intents and purposes they're on a drastically different track. From Lisbon to Moscow is a belt of low birth rates that have no capacity for revitalization until a collapse happens first which forces a restructuring and re-evaluation of the people within it with the exception of France. Woke culture is actively being fought against but more than anything else you are a result of that thanks it pushing you to the direction you are in now. It's also manifesting in much of the world even beyond Europe. Frankly the culture that is falling is the one of Europe barring France and those off of the continent. That is the area in trouble. The others? Well the Nords have already learned the limits of social justice and egalitarianism. So they're likely first on a track away from it. And on the Gaelic question... like I said: the Gaelic culture which existed before Britain is dead and gone. Your attempt at revival will be a pale imitation that will have no power. You will be an island and alone. Join the larger coalition of the civilization you're already a part of. The most Anglo part of the civilization is in institutions that have been broadly successful (UN isn't really one of those institutions given it basically wasn't meant to work in the first place), and the coalition is one of power and strength. It is having a tough time, but still in a position far beyond the others so long as it's willing to tap into its strength. And you should join too to help that revival. And this is because the Gaelic tradition will still be held. These myths and legends, this cultural revival, can be facilitated through the civilization. To join the coalition, as was done in 1808, to solidify the connection with the English as has been present for a millennium. Please remember that Ireland has been on track with the English since the 1100s and have royal English holdings since the 1500s. You are a core part of the Anglosphere. As core as any of the settler colonies. And were a large part of the kings armies world wide. Both can exist, but it would behoove you to join the larger and more successful coalition that is the Anglosphere.

There's also the little factor that the US can actually manage such a war because naval war requires vastly less in terms of manpower and on the European front the US really doesn't need to call in any allies. I think people think too highly of the US but also overestimate the kind of war the US would be in against China: a naval one. The US never invaded the Japanese mainland and only lost 400k troops throughout the whole war. Hell only 400k of the US troops were marines who were fighting in the pacific. Doesn't take anywhere near as much.

  33.  @1mol831  Honestly the first reason starts with the same reason China doesn't try to immediately invade Taiwan right now: naval invasions are difficult. IIRC Taiwan is even harder because of some weird weather patterns in the strait which only clear up 1 month at a time twice a year. Oh and it's also like 3 times the distance of the English channel. Second reason is related to the first: there's no staging ground for an invasion of the Chinese mainland. There's not an ally on any border of China that would allow American troops in to invade from. If you ever played the US in HOI4 in a not so historical fashion you've learned this the hard way when trying to invade someone. The third reason is that even if they did try to stage it, it would get wiped out via missiles and rockets because those technologies are destruction of any collection of men and equipment. Fourth and final one is thus: why even bother? What do you really gain from doing so? The ramifications of it are so insane because you started WW3, threw away millions of lives, pumped trillions from a total war, and on top of that there's no real gain because you make the Chinese submit and then do what? You're not anywhere near so It's not like you can just annex it. You make it an ally I guess but the local Chinese probably hate you for doing so anyway. The problem everyone has with China anyway is them being bellicose and expansionist and for that it's just fine to not even try and just dig your Trench around the country to just make sure they can't expand and then you get none of the negative benefits of kicking off a world War, far less men and materiel commitments, and in the end get practically the same result.

  34.  @graveyardshift6691  Okay sorry but I have to push back on two key aspects: You can't call the Gulf War a fluke when it did it twice (two gulf wars the same result) and then did the same thing to Afghanistan. And the Americans are a remarkably militaristic people despite the overall desire for peace especially from any perceived attacks. The US suffered 3 damaged buildings from some planes and because of it invaded 2 countries in the middle east and completely decimated them in less than a month. The US entered two world wars over some ships being sunk with Americans on them. The thing that the American populace more than anything else hates is being lied to and long occupations. Vietnam was 20 years long and less than 60k dead. Afghanistan was less Than 2k dead over the same time-frame. Oh and north Vietnam was near capitulation after the Tet Offensive but despite it being an American victory the US populace got mad at being lied to and thought it wasn't going well. So the US probably has the stomach for war.

I think they capped out at the oldest generation F-16s. Plenty fine for BVR kills with F-35 and even other, more modern, F-16s will blow them out of the sky. They don't have a domestic fighter industry. Or at least not a capable one.

They're the ones who got rid of a fighter in the cold War because SAMs were too good. So honestly, just ignore the Brits in this case. Unless they specifically stated the reason why they didn't need them was because they weren't fighting enemies with tanks, just assume they're doing something weird again.

Importantly as well, the reason it Exists in that way until observed, is that for these subatomic particles, we can only observe them, by hitting them with other subatomic particles because that's how we process the information. If a baseball is floating around at relativistic speeds in a certain area, the only way to really know where it is at any given time is to hit it with something else. That imparts in it a force and so changes where it will be and go. It doesn't stop being there. But you imparted information upon observation due to the nature of the observation.

For example 2.5% is "limited conscription," 5% "Extensive Conscription" (with a debuff to boot), and 30% is "Scraping the barrel" (with the penalties you'd imagine of conscripting basically your entire male population) and caps off what's an otherwise doubling percentage of the population for manpower. And that's the reason why. The answer is, "It's a large portion of the population, you just don't understand why"

  44. @pincermovement72  They mostly are. They're not prime candidates. You can revise the upper number to 50 and lower to 16, but beyond that, it just doesn't really work very well anymore. You're drawing from non-prime cohorts and getting into the role of auxiliaries only. That can still be helpful, but they're not really fighting except in that most desperate immediate didn't have enough rifles for everyone due to a shortage at that location. Yes, you will have men who perform well and shine through, but it's in no way the norm, and for most purposes, it just doesn't work as well. You're not sending your 50 year olds to storm trenches. If you do that, you're asking for a waste of life. They're very much like women in service. It's not impossible, it's not even really that difficult to do, however, as prime fighting ages are concerned, they're really not. And it's what I was really trying to get across.

  46.  @FF-ch9nr  Pan-Africanism seems less likely than Pan-European identities which are already a note of a particular place, time, and cultural influence that is likely to be but a pause in the cycle of history and not an actual path forward. Also wouldn't make sense having all of the parts of Africa be united when they don't speak the same language, don't have similar geographic features, have vastly different social situations, etc. Even a Pan-European identity is facilitated by the language of English being widely spoken by so many people. Without it such an identity is basically impossible. What you can get are Pan-Germanic (which is already the case but can possibly include the Nords), Pan-Nordic, and Pan-Latin due to mutual intelligibility between each of the languages.

If I didn't have him in the house I likely would've had much more trouble with that but by the age of 4 I was only like 2 years behind on English language development which of course accelerated with constant practice in the home.
