  1. Most home markets are still going up based on the HPI. I did a 0% down in 2014 when everyone was screaming at a second crash worse than in 2008. Still living there with no issues.

  8. Most millionaires are what they call “401K millionaires“ for me a house is a two fold investment it fixed my cost of living and it is a key to retirement. A house over all eats more money than it makes it just eats less money than renting.

  9. I got an offer on the home I paid $151K new in 2014. The offer was $25K cash. I guess I should have sold as that is all homes in GA is worth? I just don’t know why houses down from me are still selling for 250K-500K.

  14. Still no crash. Foreclosures are at record lows, unemployment is extremely low, 6-7 million are hired every month, most homes are sold in a month. I love how people think 23,000 foreclosures nation wide is extremely high.

  19.  @tonyhurst6544  actually I would buy right now if I was ready to upgrade my house. This year I will pay off our SUV we bought and I plan to pay off our house in one or two years 18 years earlier than than loan term. Pay increases are great.

  22. Buying a home is no more than the same as investing into the stock market. Buying a home to live in is one of the best investments into retirement. There are always people talking about a crash. When I bought in 2014 they were talking about a massive crash. It never happened. Home values are still going up.

  24. Here is the issue. Is it that way comparing same size rent and home your buy? Comparing a 900sqft 3 bedroom is not the same as a 1500sqft 3 bedroom home. When I bought with a 0% down home in 2014 (when everyone was calling for a second crash as home sales fell.) then my rent was $200 over the price of a new home. Now it is $900 and that includes taxes and insurance. 1% a year is very much normal for repairs.

  34.  @FelipeValdez-og2tg  it is Marysville CA 60 minutes from Sacramento, Oroville, Chico. you can actually catch every fish type in California within 30 minutes of that city. It’s also missed the state capital vote by two votes. You might find in history books it’s where Mary of the Donner party settled.

That is an interesting take my wife had it after we bought our new house in 2014 for 151K we were qualified for 400K I was looking at a 4 bedroom that was 2500sqft home for $210K but she wanted the 3 bedroom 1500sqft home. Yes I know that is a very expensive home. But to this day I am very happy with the mortgage that is over 60% cheaper than rent!!! In fact the payment is only $170 more than my parents mortgage in 1989. And it is a larger home.

  46. My parents bought a home in 1989 in California for 88K($1100SQFT). And it’s sold in 2019 for 119 K. I bought my home in 2014 it was finished the day we signed the paperwork and the payment was only $300 more than their mortgage
