  4. well which country did you grow up under. because it varies between countries. the best case scenario of communism is what you went through.. but having properties doesn't really jive as you are not allowed properties rights under "communism"

  6. if i made $350k after taxes you would still keep around $210,000.00 if i spent only say $30k a year i would keep $180k a year if i just saved and nothing else I could retire a millionaire in just 10 years... but if you factor in all the standard life things that get in the way i could still retire in 20 years. still got no sympathy for folks that luck into big money and blow it all.

  12. the only reason college was so popular in the bygone era was because 1.) veterans using their GI bills to pay for it 2.) colleges were no where near as expensive as it is today 3.) if you went to college for a actual useful trade (engineering, medicine, law, etc) you were bound to find a decent paying job in that field... so there you go. you take away just one of the incentives. it just falls apart.

  45. in the past keeping up wih the joneses was really just keeping up wiht your friends in your economic circles. it just meant a new appliance once in a while or some new gadgets here and there... for people back in those days making middle income it was doable. but now with social media and people keeping up with he kardashsians and not really the joneses.
