The reason being is that medical treatment is optional and people can not be forced to have it. Plenty of people go against medical advice for many reasons. Some don't want the bill. Some don't want to take the risk. Some have religious beliefs as the reason. Having a legal and safe abortion for whatever reason is a perfectly valid decision. I don't see how the two party politicians have the moral standing to decided who can have and can not have an abortion. They have no problem voting for endless war in the middle east but some how they have the moral authority to tell a women she must give birth or die.

No one gets an abortion at 8 months and 29 days. The state and police have no business in personal and medical matters. Doctors are the ones who control what is within their code of ethics. You can't sue a doctor for malpractice without the state medical board first giving the go ahead. Why should it be any different for abortion or contraceptive care?

  10. Technology should be left out since their is no unlimited and free healthcare and any healthcare decisions has consequences beyond any possible good outcomes. Heath care can change the odds in a limited manner but it can not produce a 100% guarantee of a favorable outcome. The decision in Roe v. Wade should have been based upon women being equal before the law and women having the right to control their bodily functions.

How many murder convictions have you been able to sustain against a physician for abortion/murder? In fifty years I count exactly one. Kermit Gosnell. Gosnell would have gone to jail for murder with or without special abortion laws. Third trimester abortion laws are nothing more than "feel good" laws written by corrupt politicians seeking reelection.

  21. There is nothing moral about forcing a women to give birth against her will. I know someone who got pregnant because a so call doctor told her she couldn't. His reason being abuse suffered as an unwanted child who was later adopted. The abuse was no doubt real but the sperm only needs to meet the egg. It has nothing to do with abuse unless her actual reproductive organs were removed or severely damaged. Knowing her adopted mom she was sent to a Quack doctor who knowly told her that so a latter pregnancy could be declared a miracle from God. She had the child without a father because he wanted nothing to do with a pregnant girlfriend. She is raising the child without a father on welfare. She doesn't have a high school diploma because she was home schooled by a single mother supported by church donations instead of being sent to a good surban high school less than a mile away. Mom also could have sent her to a Christian high school but I guess somehow that just wasn't Christian enough.

Write down to total of the dots on top of the dice. Now keep roll them for maybe 100 times. I can tell you that the most likely number you will role is 7 because you can get that sum with 1 and 6, 2 and 5, 3 and 4, 4 and 3, 5 and 2 , 6 and 1. now with 2 as the sum you can only get that 2 ways 1 and 1, and 1 and 1 the same is for 12 only 6 and 6, and 6 and 6 so the most unlikely total is 2 or 12. That is the way probability works. So each time you get pregnant and bring your pregnancy to term you risk of death is like another roll of the dice. The other choice is to have an abortion which is less likely to result in death. The insurance companies know this and that's why they are much happier to pay for abortions than childbirth. Not to mention what happens when they have to pay for children's childcare.

I know enough about medicine that given our current knowledge they can't predict as much as an electrical engineer like you can. If you had the choice of eye surgery done by a doctor with what amounts to an exacto knife or a robot with the same knife under control like a modern hard drive electromechanically picking out the correct cylinder to read from? Unfortunately I had the exacto knife procedure and the outcome was poor. I didn't lose all my sight in that eye but for the time being nothing can be done. Someday maybe the only need for abortions will be medical. That isn't today. The anti abortion forces are against birth control also. That should be a clue for anyone who looks at who they have with them.

In the case of children the parents or parent have the right to make that decision. Refusing extraordinary measures is already a right of parents for their children. You also have a right to give birth at home or any other place you choose without a physician. Someone shows up at an abortion clinic who asks for an abortion. An examination puts her into a gray area of possibly being viable. Do you tell her to go away we can't help you? Or after a discussion with her do you give her a shot which will induce labor which then results in a preemie. Now are you obligated to take extraordinary measures to save the life of the preemie? What if the women had a natural born preemie in the gynecological doctors office? Maybe she had the preemie at home and alone. If the preemie dies at home or on the way to the hospital is that now going to be a crime? I don't pretend to know anything beyond what seems reasonable. You want to talk about situations like 8 month 29 day abortions accomplished by cutting the spinal cord while the baby is already in the birth canal. Then form there you what to extrapolate into writing regulations for all possible situations. Do you also plan on stationing the police to watch and investigate gynecological offices for possible law breaking abortion doctors?

  44. Basicly the federal government can only do what is listed as federal responsibility in the Constitution. Most federal power comes from regulating interstate and foreign commerce. Since most medical care is carried out within states and not in interstate commerce then it is up to the states to regulate such care which is why the states issue Physicians license and not the federal government like FAA pilots licenses or radio transmission license. The tenth amendment is where the rest of the constitutionality of the right to privacy is found "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
