Thus te implication and reality is that the expectation of society and women that men approach first puts men in a weaker position. This is what women want and your point makes your post-hoc justification clear. Keep it up, and men will not bother approaching because the power relationship becomes skewed, by your own admission.

In general, men offer marriage, and have to be persuaded the benefits. This is increasingly not the case.

Hypergamy is off the scale in China where selective female infanticide has resulted in a hugely biased sex ratio with fewer women than men. Their reproductive rates have cratered.

@alexisc7565 Oh no, relationships are doomed because there is uncertainty in life. Let the human race go extinct! How did our ancestors ever navigate the complexities of interpersonal dynamics? An impossible task. Best to give up.

Hypergamy refers specifically to social status, not simply wanting the best. It is derived from anthropology. The desire by men for youth/fertility and other positive feminine attributes is well, well understood, however the corresponding hypergamy of females has been overlooked for decades. That is why it is now receiving more attention, as a corrective to the lop-sided views of feminism and gynocentrism. I would point out that female hypergamy is every bit as biologically based as the male equivalent, it goes to resource provisioning and protection from pre-caveman days. If women are to bear children, they need the help and support of the fittest males. Women also massively select on genetics as do men. There are countless studies proving this. One consequence is that women have a 'dual-mating' strategy that men do not, wherein they get pregnant to the most dominant males and get the more committed faithful type to help raise the ensuing progeny. Before you dismiss this, remember that non-paternity is huge and ever present, proven by DNA testing.

@ericlarousse1149 In other words, you accept that women's goal is the resource exploitation of men. With 'equality', should that change?
