props to Mclaren for sticking with hydraulic steering
82
I hardly give a shit about the aesthetics compared to what happened to steering feel and driver involvement with the modern cars
45
looks at Miata
29
@RyanRoadReaper even if you throw an LS in lol. I'm just been posting this since being shocked to read how little the modern miata weighs. Like 300lbs less than I would've guessed which means they know something other manufacturers don't
19
I think most BMWs run the electric water pump for a few minutes even after shutting off if things are too hot. at least since the n54
19
Those are the few. I'm glad Porsche screwed over all the 911 R speculators 😂 few things irk me more than someone sitting on a limited edition car just to sell it
18
@DID70Sworkedoutforyou it's sad to see what the modern marketing /sales teams of both Mercedes and BMW have done to their marques.
17
I wonder how this compares to a sc300 5 speed.. not too many people fighting over them yet
14
@arcadeuk the Tesla Roadster was much more limited production compared to the widespread availability and range of EVs we see now.
13
That's bc the interior basically hasn't changed since 2014
12
@tyler9703 not when it costs $130k
11
every car company freed/divested from Ford became much better off afterwards
11
@Gravity_hpu u were comparing a smallish rwd coupe to that huge awd sedan? The cars drive VERY differently as well
10
@williamlong2682 yeah I agree with your point that VAG and Merc have gone with WAY too many touch controls, at least BMW still has a nice usable interior though
9
Love this car 😍 may be my favorite Porsche. My dream Porsche would look something like a GT3 with softer suspension, rear seats and convertible top. Those first two items SHOULD have come on the gt3 touring.
8
80mph in 2nd gear is absurd
8
the only way I see that being possible is if you stayed at 50-55mph
8
@dereinegreg gaskets probably rot out every single year being driven that little. It's not good for any car to sit around that much
7
@cbvss bc with dealer markup they can often be the same price right now
7
The 4000lb awd, wide as all hell proper sports car
7
@sesh3508 displacement doesn't matter in the US at least. I bet this one is tuned for more torque, and down low. Heads and bigger turbo will move power higher up and pull to redline. Same basic motor, two very different states of tune.
6
@sesh3508 okay maybe wouldn't go that far 😂 but maybe! B58 are hitting unbelievable numbers on stock internals Yes sedan would be amazing. Mazda honestly has much better EPS system than BMW rn.
6
@jimc5696 yes although a huge determining factor is what motor you have. The newer B series motors are actually reliable.. however the cars have lost the magic BMW steering and feedback which made you want to buy one in the first place
6
@durkbros7418 cept for the Daimler Chrysler era ones like this 😂
5
@jonathanporter3239 yup you could get the first gen with manual and 400hp v8 😁
5
@derbigpr500 not with this 4 cyl and 4 speed 😂
5
Lol fortunately on most enthusiast channels those comments end up getting down voted to all hell, for good reason 😎
5
@maximeparent3004 this is a wild exotic not a pure sports car. an M4 isn't a proper sports car either it's a super sedan
5
@yungboicontigo9278 lol the new S class has the usual all touchscreen garbage. Same with audi RS6 the double touchscreen disaster. BMW are actually the most usable interior rn
5
Except this is probably slower in a straight line 😂
4
not a hot take
4
@xrkuzd1569 yeah but those were probably what are specifically known as driver loafers. Check em out! Great for driving.. as in the name lol
4
wagon with stick is still way better to drive than big SUV.. but this is closest thing. You could get Panamera v8 with stick
4
straight 6 is a much more enjoyable experience than a 4 on all points
4
@yungboicontigo9278 the materials are beautiful I agree, Bentley has a much better overall aesthetic without the chintzy touch screens though. I don't care about nighttime vodka bar lighting, even the cheapest cars have that now
4
They definitely hoping to sell a bunch of these in China. They go for the large /lifted cars like luxury minivans and SUVs instead of sedan limos if they can
4
@camdenmiller7369 said no one . the 5 series up until the F10 was always a slightly bigger 3-series and incredible to drive around town or on the highway. Then they went way towards the luxury end and you get a small 7-series that has the steering feedback of a Lexus .. even if the engine and transmissions are still incredible
3
@DID70Sworkedoutforyou much better than snow and salt
3
@weedmastersr so did nearly every still existing car company
3
@weedmastersr in the 50s and 60s? Most euro and American companies had at least a few cool cars
3
at least some of the old communicative steering /feedback yes
3
It's be tough for me to buy this over a 450 hp tire smoking beast at the same price (stang and maro) . Especially given how much open space we have in America. This car probably makes more sense in Europe / Japan with much smaller streets
3
Love the wood dash and the vents. Hate the huge pop up iPad
3
something about those buttons right under the nav screen looks really cheap and reminiscent of the new Golf interior shitshow
3
The digital tach and speedo are horrible idk what they're thinking over there
2
@Real_Turismo I think AMG are the only ones left with a circular dial.. the horizontal bar graphs are a bad idea. Since they're digital it seems like it'd be way too easy for BMW to give the option of circular dials displaying 🤔
2
Like the manual X5... WHY!? why not get the Panamera or 535xi equivalent with a stick 😂
2
@bestbelieviet nimble is about it due to the stiffer body structure. Nearly everything else that used to make them win every comparison test is lacking. Steering feedback is real shit, worse than my sister's new CX-5 Turbo. Modern technology is not making the cars more fun and that's why all the older M cars keep going up $$$. I've driven every gen of modern M6/M8 and the M8 felt much more pedestrian than either of the M6. like a 440i with big power instead of like an M car.
2
somehow completely missed any news of this or the Ghibli getting the nuts Trofeo trim . finally a decent alternative to M and AMG!
2
@pascutia even 08+ with the ZF 6 speed can be had for cheap. Like $20k with 50k miles which is nuts
