Just hoping MTA doesn't do something petty and cut her off. I think 14 years is more than. enough for her to get medical & 401K for retirement. Do good by her and not allow DMV to make the call to snatch her license away

It's the equivalent of saying that if you & your family constantly be diagnosed with diabetes that the FDA should ban sugar. It's your duty to not be influenced. Listen to it? Fine! 🙌🏾 but don't condone it into your lifestyle

I'm not gonna say Trump was right... ☕🗿
3
Nowadays?... You mean for millennia. This isn't anything new to the world

Iron doesn't budge. There's a reason those tracks been withstanding 300 years worth of rail usage for over a century

Newark Liberty is in Newark, New Jersey BUT it's in the New York metropolitan area and the airspace is part of the "New York Class B" status. But here's why this change matters. If someone were to book a flight to/from New York, they would have the options of LaGuardia; JFK and Newark airports because it's part of the Greater New York area, but it also means that flights rescheduled or redirected can be rotated to either three airports without any "extra fees" if done so. Because of this change to make Newark Liberty "independent," airlines can now classify EWR as a "distant" hub (similar status as flying to a rural Vermont) and charge you more for gate fees. Leaving the grouping as a "New York -based" airport now treats EWR (Newark Liberty) as no longer part of NYC. That means: You would be charged higher fees if your flight is redirected from either JFK or LGA, which tends to happen often because of overcrowding on those runways... and vice versa for JFK or LGA inbound/outbound flights

The technology does exist but I wouldn't dare test that tech on a New York street!
2
As the police force is showing these "leaders" silently 'If you can't trust the police then police it yourself' How is that going for ya, mayor?
2
@frenchchicken2799 You have no clue. The person just told you why it was done. You gloat about having the "independent" status but being labeled as part of New York bring it's benefits to North Jersey. This wasn't done to give Jersey clout, it was done to charge more fees cos now EWR would be in the same tier as flying to Hartford, CT
2
Granted, Newark Airport has nothing but stock footage of chemical & coal plants so I don't blame them
2
Cos Jersey is nothing more than an extended suburb for NYC and Philly

Except, Newark is part of Greater New York area. It's not about clout status, it's about getting cheaper benefits without for being part of New York
1
Tradition that has been going on for millennia
1
@mpound97 Whatever floats your boat but New York gives North Jersey the clout without Newark nor Jersey City having to do anything. The same as how Philadelphia gives South Jersey clout besides Atlantic City... and good luck with that travesty New Jersey is nothing more than a suburban state. Sorry, not sorry
1
Except, they're gonna be charged more for gate fees. This change wasn't done for "clout status," it was done to charge higher fees for international & domestic travelers
1
Well, now it matters because if your flight is redirected from LGA or JFK, the airliner can charge you more to fly into Newark because now they are gonna treat EWR as a "distant" airport rather than part of the NYC status.
1
@aqua2poweros699 LaGuardia is more so for "domestic" (national) flights but the real difference is between JFK and Newark because those handle "international" flights, so it's gonna factor with the costs A LOT more
1
No, a New York City airport. Because it shares the airspace.
1
Yup. Jersey gains the "independent" status BUT now has the to pay higher fees for being "independent" from New York Welcome to Capitalism 🤷
1
@slapshot68 New York Red Bulls (plays in Patterson, NJ) and they still doesn't get the fans
1
At one time, the Giants identified themselves as just "The Giants" (dropping the New York status) because of how then NYC's mayor mistreated them during their search for a new stadium site but the Mara's realized the NEW YORK name brings in the clout so they've been kissing up to the city since the late 90s It's truly Moonachie's team. The Jets?... whatever. Who cares for real
1
@ds0904 Would you trust United?... Id much prefer Southwest; Delta or AA
1
@toniamrod Newark is still part of the Greater New York area and the airspace; no matter status of Newark Liberty, is all transmitted out of New York. The same reason here in Maryland, we have BWI (Baltimore-Washington International) but Washington, DC is 40-45 miles from the airport while Baltimore is only 15 miles It's the status of the airspace we share as a Baltimorean
1
💯 correct. This isn't some "status boost" for Jersey folks. It's a more money scheme
1
They're hear in Maryland and I see nothing but their carcasses scattered across the landscape
1
NYC Taxi will cos now it's no longer their jurisdiction, so here's to hoping NJT or Amtrak doesn't follow suit
1
The parents. Monke see, monke do
1
United Airlines is probably not the issue but if you were to fly with any other airline, they could charge you more by reclassifying EWR as a "distant" air hub. That New York status comes in handy to get things easier.
1
Should be renamed the Moonachie Giants & Jets
1
"We're combating fare invasion so our solution is to raise the fare and let the Mexi..." wait a second 🤔
1
It's all according to the airspace it's located in. Philly has it's own airspace while EWR is part of New York's because of it's proximity. But the biggest difference for passengers flying to/from EWR because now airlines would charge more to fly into Newark because of it's status as an "independent" from New York City (JFK, LGA, Tetterboro). Having the NYC label benefits for sudden flight changes and exclusive access BUT now a patron could be stripped broke if their flight redirect from LGA or JFK and charged more at the gate than originally
1
Because, if you're a flyer this would effect how much you pay at gate for your tickets. It may not effect you directly but it will if you realize the fees to fly from EWR are more expensive now than they were before this change
1
Your money cos now airlines would charge more if you fly in or out of EWR
1
It does effect your money if you decide to take a flight NOW and realize "Oh! So the ticket fees is now twice as much then it were last time I flew from EWR" 🤔
1
I guess Port Authority Bus Terminal wasn't an option?...
1
Not much because United has hub in Newark but it will effect the other flights because they will now charge higher gate fees because it will be treated as a "distant" as opposed to being "part" of New York
1
Dude gonna regret saying that cos now he's gonna be charged double to fly outta "MUY, NUU JERSEY'S" airport
1
No transit buses have airbags. It's not standardized but it would also cause greater risks if ever deployed prematurely. The best deterrent in a head-on crash is the frame itself. This particular model involved 😬 but there are others that MTA does have on duty that gives drivers at least a foot of leniency if ever in a head-on accident
1
Guess what?... The trade-off is that you're gonna be paying higher gate fees
1
Never was but how else are you gonna get across the country?... Unless, you fly Spirit or JetBlue then you deserve the ramifications of unsafe travel
1
or just call them "THE Football GIANTS" I do miss the GIANTS text on the blue helmets though
1
They're misinformed. This would effect their pockets greatly
1
Yup. The airspace is still New York but the "status" is NOT New York as to CHARGE Newark passengers MORE MONEY to fly from EWR
1
That's across the planet. It wasn't the bus size, it was a medical emergency
1
When it comes to getting the benefits of status, you're better off claiming New York as your "daddy" As long as Jersey gets the revenue call me a "NUU YOKER" as you please 🤓👍
1
Or the first clip of United Airlines flying out of Chicago Midway 🤦
1
EWR is far too close to NYC to not be part of New York's airspace. Like the comment before me stated, this is gonna affect misinformed passengers in regards to gate fees because now EWR's status is gonna be downgrade to a "distant" air hub (similar to you flying to Wyoming) and if flights are redirected from JFK and/or LGA to EWR or vise versa, the airlines could charge you even more for flying into a "new" jurisdiction no related to New York, even though you're in the metroplex's jurisdiction
1
Except, the winner is the airlines cos now the can charge patrons higher fees because EWR is no longer part of New York and treated as an independent entity.
1
The big deal is that it now gives the airlines an opportunity to charge New Jersey flyers MORE on gate fees because it's no longer tied to NYC but as an "independent" entity. Placed in a category similar to you flying to/from rural West Virginia.
