  4. It's not a collapse, it's a stabilisation to improved living standards and a reaction to (lack of) social structures that support having more children. With AI and increased automation it might even become a boon to have fewer people with professions that have been made obsolete by technology in the next decades. And the planet certainly doesn't need more people. We need to evolve our obsolete economic thinking of "growth for the sake of growth" when competition for finite ressources is increasing.

  5. Democracy in Greece was never truly democratic. It was an oligarchy. Slaves and non-citizens were more numerous and women were excluded. We didn't lose anything from Greece in terms of civil institutions or governance. And the fall of Rome arguably made the case for "learning" how to build more robust republican systems. Although it sadly seems the entire West are starting to forget that lesson.

How much did they cover about the WC in Qatar, despite Russia and China holding several global sporting events? Our allies in Egypt, Saudi and UAE? The examples are legion where popular opinion is quashed in furtherance of interests and/or maintaining power. When the general media and political class agree to silence a subject, it will be silenced, even in a democracy...

There are more Israeli lies about October 7th verified to be untrue, than statements that have been proved correct - and they have all been repeated as nauseam by media outlets, just as you yourself have repeated them. Here's where it all falls apart with regard to any and all moral legitimacy Israel might claim: Cutting off food and water, targeting journalists, hospitals and schools provide a clear and systematic motive of the Israeli plan. Civilians, even surrendering hostages, waving white flags have been killed. What does that tell you of the Israeli army and their methods? And then there's the clear statements from Israeli military and gov't officials themselves. This is a deliberate act of destroying a population and their means of sustaining life, probably in the hope that Egypt or others relent and allow Israel to ethnically cleanse the entire area. Which is seemingly the main reason for the US pier, as there are far easier, cheaper methods to bring in aid by making weapons deliveries contingent on aid deliveries. Peter Zeihan tried to portray himself as objective, but he's in fact squarely in the demographic that refuses to raise any basic questions about Israeli conduct and the American support that makes it possible. The whole thing is an atrocity and this is the moment in history where the West have allowed themselves to be utterly morally corrupted by a brutal occupation and apartheid regime that deserves no sympathy or support.

The issue is whether the Asia-Pacific carrier groups and whatever air forces allowed to deploy from neutral countries can do jack shit against the sheer number of missiles thrown at them from the continent before they have to turn tail and "re-arm". China would effectively wage a war on their home turf. The US would have to employ immense resources to prosecute a war across the Pacific. For the life of me, I don't understand why the US is trying to piss off every other country on the planet and paint them as enemies. The US is supporting and arming a genocide as we speak.   20. I'm no fan of Erdogan, but this analysis is extremely biased. Europe and the US have consistently treated Turkey as a second rate nation instead of an equal. And while Erdogan is increasingly problematic in his policies, the silence regarding other allies such as Israel, Egypt and Saudi speaks volumes. Turkey is looking out for themselves just like any other country does. It just seems to annoy everyone that they're open about it instead of acting in abject servitude as is expected of them.

Here the difference about this genocide and the "what about x genocide" argument: The killings in Gaza are being committed by a so-called democracy that is an ally of the US, armed, funded and supported by Congress. If it was an entirely legitimate intervention, why would anyone cut food, water, medicine and fuel to a civilian population? Using famine as a weapon is a war crime and a component of the genocide as clearly stated by Israeli officials. It is irrefutable and Israel is simply showing us that they can carry out any crime with impunity. We should all be outraged by this.

  45. Always take Peter Zeihan with a grain of salt. Ukraine won't fall. But it's likely that Russia will keep their gains when a cease fire is finally reached. It's pure fiction to think that Ukraine can regain all lost territory and still be able to function as a state afterwards. If there's a provocation in Iran or Taiwan, I'll guarantee you the US could have chosen a diplomatic option but the "wacky" Congress people will beat their best jingo drums for a war.

Saudi butchered a US journalist in a basement. Israel shot a US journalist in the head. No international investigation, no oversight and absolutely no accountability... If they don't even give a shit about their own citizens, what hope is there that the US actually gives a flying fuck about human rights and international law?
