Hang on, didn't Germany introduce similar "health measures" in the 1930s? Then too it was necessary to protect "good Germans" from infection. Maybe the Polish will let them reopen that camp in the south of their country. I hear it used to have really nice showers, where the dirty unvaccinated can be cleaned up.

Well we are almost on the same page, except that Ascension Island is both a pleasant place, and it would be expensive to transport the illegals and the needed supplies there. On the other hand, there are plenty of bloody miserable, remote Scottish islands which would provide a much cheaper alternative and really would be a deterrent.
89
There's a simple reason Lancashire police revealed the information. Without people knowing this their extreme focus on Bulley falling in the river was absolutely risible. Even a cursory glance at the river where she was supposed to have fallen in told anyone who wasn't mentally enfeebled what a ridiculous hypothesis this was.
89
Does anyone expect sense from someone who left school at 16 without even the most basic of qualifications, and didn't obtain any credible ones subsequently?
89
The French absolutely must not let Herr Macron get away with behaving like a dictator. Retiring at 64 is not a big deal, but the way the law was forced through most certainly is.
88
They are hard as nails when it comes to anyone upsetting the tender sensibilities of Muslims, or women peacefully holding a vigil for someone that one of their own has raped and murdered!
87
The Home Office's backdown is truly pathetic. They might as well now hang a massive banner over the white cliffs of Dover saying "Dingy Boys Welcome".
83
It's Marlene Headley that should be apologising, for being a complete pain. Almost certainly, if she had used her real name then Lady Hussey would never have asked her where she came from.
81
Hopefully the first of many more such prosecutions. And when their sentence is served they should be deported!
81
An act of staggering stupidity, even by the standards of the SNP. If anything Scotland needs vastly more trees. It certainly doesn't need to cut them down. There must have been so many other places turbines could have been erected without cutting down a single tree.
81
As those of us who have visited Sweden know, to our great sadness, this has probably come too late. I visited Sweden slightly over 40 years ago. Before this plague of migrants descended on the country it was an incredibly safe and happy place.
81
And how many on this council might themselves not welcome close scrutiny?
80
Many of those with "assets" have them because they worked bloody hard for many years, and didn't squander what they earned on expensive holidays, cars and nights out!
79
Sunak was utterly and completely useless, which was bad enough. But Starmer is deliberately hurting this country!
78
Ending the BBC license fee might gain Sunak a few extra votes.
78
Diversity officers in the NHS is an obscene waste of money. With the shortage of doctors and nurses you NEED to employ ALL suitable candidates, whatever their background! I've said it many times before, but it bears repeating. Admin in the NHS, and many other areas, is like a malignant and virulent cancer, sucking up resources that are very badly needed elsewhere!
77
Every minister and MP who supported covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions is responsible for this economic catastrophe. AND Starmer and his Labour party bear a large share of the blame. There were a lot of Tory backbenchers who saw this disaster coming and staunchly opposed Downing Street's insanity, but unstinting support from Starmer and Labour gave No.10 the numbers they needed to carry out these insane and totally unnecessary measures.

I'm a qualified maths teacher who tutors all areas of A-level maths, including further maths. In the past I've also taught I.B. Diploma Higher Level Maths, and given a very well received Easter intensive revision course in it. I have a large bookshelf full of maths books, that includes such topics as Galois Theory and Non Euclidean Geometry. Yet I regard forcing students over 16 to do maths as an intensely stupid idea. If maths is taught PROPERLY up to the age of 16 then most students will learn more than enough of what they will need for later life. Those who really can't hack it would be far better off devoting their time to something they are good at.
76
@jerusalem330 Repeat after me. I trust Boris. The vaccines are safe.
76
These modelers draw their conclusions by only considering the worst possible scenarios, regardless of how unlikely they are. Other far more reasonable scenarios are resolutely ignored. Omicron is a perfect example of this. It has now been going strong in South Africa for at least 6 weeks, which is ample time to determine its severity. Yet the scaremongers simply refuse to accept the evidence, from South African doctors, that it is EXTREMELY MILD.
75
Well said Nina. I love crisps and chocolate, and can afford them, but most of the time I leave them on the supermarket shelves. A good proportion of those who succumbed to covid-19 were lard buckets. A relatively small number can't help their weight, but most obesity IS down to greedy piggy wiggies stuffing their face.
74
Millions of us, myself included, would be very happy to carry out the sentence, even if it meant some inconvenience and expense to us.
74
The most worrying thing is that Bercow got away with this for years! There are many more getting away with as much, if not worse, and most will never be called to task.
74
If most people weren't completely scientifically illiterate they would realise how crucial oil is for our chemical industries that create so much of what they take for granted.
74
When I've got vastly better, and longer lasting, NATURAL IMMUNITY it is not my civic duty to put my arse on the line with poorly tested vaccines which won't benefit me in the least. If the classics and PPE degree brigade were "listening to the science" then they wouldn't want me to either.
73
I wish we could send the whole bloody cabinet, plus PM, on a one way ticket!
73
Let's be honest. Lineker is hardly Noble laureate material. Why the BBC thinks he is worth his obscene salary totally escapes all those with even a modicum of intelligence. He may well be a great has-been footballer, but when it comes to presenting MOTD there are plenty of people who could do much better for less than one twentieth of what he is paid, and would be very happy to have the job.
72
The ONLY thing she is deeply sorry about is losing the whip, and the grief she has got.
72
Never mind just the elderly, in this day and age the BBC ought to stand on its own feet, like all the other TV and radio channels. If it's as bloody good as we're told then the sponsorship and advertising will flood in. If it isn't then, like any lame horse, it needs to be put down.
72
Only in Britain could money that's meant to be used to prevent terrorism go to organisations promoting it. I think you really have to work hard to achieve this level of incompetence!
72
Let the lazy bastards go on strike. As most people now can't get easy access to them they won't even notice it! Last year I diagnosed myself as needing hernia surgery and referred myself to a private specialist: bypassed the GP completely.
71
A lot of truth in this. Herr Macron wanted, among other things, a pan European army. And guess who was going to be pulling the strings. Under this dictator the French now enjoy less freedom than they had under the Nazis. It must really infuriate him that the French people can see Brits going to restaurants without being asked to show their papers.
70
Of course, if you are a rich MP you can send your kids to private schools and pay for private health care, which is why most don't give a toss.
69
I fear that both the Conservatives and the Labour party are far two concerned about upsetting militant Muslims.
69
Other countries did ban them. But few countries have cowards as spineless as Sunak.
69
Ironically, kicking Diane Abbott out of the Labour Party could get them a lot more votes, as many would be supporters were frightened off by her.
68
The ones who always pay for pay rises are those in no position to fight for similar ones. This is why it's so important to keep the triple lock for pensioners, and even enhance it.
68
The anti-Semitic Met Police disgust me. If there were people calling for a war against Muslims you can be certain that the Met would have been only too eager to arrest them.
68
I'm not Jewish, but I think it's appalling that a channel funded by us taxpayers is allowed to get away with not saying that Hamas is a terrorist organisation.
67
Parents also have an absolute right to know what degree and teacher training a teacher has!
67
Parents should be glad that the BBC has Linker, because he reminds kids who aren't academic that no intelligence whatsoever is required to be a footballer.
66
How, can you rule out a third party if you haven't a clue what's happened?
65
Ah, but the whole point of "care in the community" isn't the welfare of the individual and society. It's the welfare of the government's bank balance!
65
'It's not very easy to go off-grid in today's world' This is precisely why intelligent people keep an open mind as to the possibility of foul play.
65
Notice how old this woman is. She wants our children to have totally unnecessary vaccines for HER sake, not theirs. Many of us anti-vaxxers have little yellow books jam packed with vaccines that we have willingly paid for. Not wanting to take, or have your children take, a poorly tested vaccine that you don't need does not make you anti-vaccine. It just shows you have some intelligence, and are capable of independent thought.
64
That 23 million will include most OAPs who rich boy Sunak has CHEATED out of their "triple lock" and will now get a pension rise well below inflation. Even without having their rightful rise STOLEN from them, most OAPs would have still struggled!
63
Boris Johnson knew this would happen right from the start. The poorer you are the worse lockdowns have hurt you. On the other hand the likes of Eton boys haven't suffered in the least, so if you think Boris gives a fat frog's fart then think again.
63
Actually Britain is most definitely accountable! If Britain had not rescued any of these small boats that got into trouble or allowed anyone else rescuing them to land in Britain, then there would have been vastly fewer of the crossings that lead to such accidents.
62
Imagine what would have happened to the country if Sturgeon had been leading it. Well, we would no longer have an immigration problem, because she would have buggered us up so badly that no one would want to come here anymore. I'll bet none of those tears are for all those Scottish businesses that she sent to the wall.
62
Give it a few more years and we will see all the C of E bishops dressed like Frank-N-Furter and doing the Time Warp in Westminster Abbey for Christmas.
