  1. In the entire world there is NO CONCRETE EVIDENCE that Omicron has hospitalised or killed a single person! This EXTREMELY MILD variant offers the very real prospect of quickly and SAFELY establishing NATURAL HERD IMMUNITY, and bringing this pandemic to and end. Rather than trying to stop Omicron we need to be having "catch Omicron" parties!

  6. I voted remain, but I certainly don't blame Brexit for our economic woes. The main cause of these, by far, were the totally insane and unnecessary lockdowns and restrictions. And for what? A relatively innocuous virus that killed well under 1% of the population, and where the vast majority of even these deaths were in very old and/or very sick people, many of whom would have died soon anyway.

  16. We NEED to get rid of the isolation rules! For most people catching EXTREMELY MILD Omicron is a non-event, because they don't even notice that they have it. For the rest it's no worse than a MILD cold. It would be vastly better for society if these people, especially doctors, nurses and teachers, were at work helping lots of people, instead of malingering at home.

  39. I'm a UK qualified teacher who can teach A-level maths, further maths, physics and chemistry really well. I could even teach both French and German GCSE reasonably. However you won't find me in any school because the overpaid pen pushers in them only want dirt cheap newly qualified, or trainee, teachers who are also easy to slave drive and bully. And I'm certainly not unique. In so many area's the only real shortage is of dirt cheap people who can be mercilessly exploited.

The fact that covid-19 posed a negligible threat to well over 99% was never mentioned. They reported demonstrations on trivial matters by sometimes a mere handful of people but never reported any of the truly massive anti-lockdown protests happening both here and abroad. Of course, while doing all they could to push people to get vaccinated, they avoided any mention of how vastly better natural immunity was. Putin would probably be very happy having BBC staff in his state media.

  48. Sadly undercutting the wages of one's own citizens is a common practice that many governments are complicit in. Going back about 30 years I can remember stories of Software Developers in the US being forced to train recruits from India, and then being sacked. 9 times out of 10, when an employer claims they can't get the staff what they really mean is that they can't get locals who are willing to work for peanuts, and/or endure appalling working conditions.
