You needed the first year to get antibodies to all the stuff kids pick up and bring home, just as you did to your parents when you were little. It is a cycle and a process. And until we either have herd immunity or a vaccine, this will continue. No matter who is in the oval!

  21. At the end of the day, all the vaccines that were set aside for use that day have to be used. So when ppl don't show up, they give out to those who are willing to wait. My daughter is in Israel, where they are vaccinating at a high rate, and they are doing the same thing.

Just like they learn please and thank you, going to the bathroom and washing their hands, or how to brush their teeth. It will be just one more thing they have to learn in school.   34. Yes you can. You just need to sign a waiver. Weather it is based on a religious basis, or an "I am a crazy anti-vaxer" basis, it is pretty easy to send your kids to school without the chicken pox vaccine. I did it when it first came out. I wanted to wait a few years and see...years later I gave it to them. Hopefully there isn't a problem with it like the Dow anti-nausea drugs pregnant woman were given in the 70's. That is what scares me about drugs and vaccines without a long history of no issues!

  36. I applaud her starting a new business. And hopes she succeeds! I would like to know however, when her business does succeed, and she hires staff, will she offer them benefits? What happens once she is able to cover herself and her family, but giving health care benefits to employees becomes simply cost prohibitive??? THAT is a problem that needs to be addressed!

  38.  @charg7316  If you have the space, time, and means to keep and care for your loved ones at your own home when they get to that point in their life, that is great. Unfortunately most people don't have an extra bedroom and bathroom on the main floor of their home (with wheelchair access), or the ability to quit their job and stay home 24/7 to watch their loved one, or the knowledge and capacity to offer the medical assistance they may need. Or all of the above. Those people have no choice but to seek out a nursing home. And they should not be shamed because of it. Nonetheless, the residents deserve to be cared for. Not left to their own devices while their loved ones, who are paying the bill and these people's salaries, are lied to by the staff.

It was a stab in the back of the community because I am sure that the synagogue board had the same discussion (argument) as every other synagogue in the country does when we receive the email we all get annually (at the very least), advising us to have security, and when possible, armed security. Some listen, some don't. The board votes and decides. It is a democratic process but I doubt the President was aware of it when he made the comment. And either way, he is correct. Armed guards, when properly trained, are always the better option! Not agreeing to meet with the President in this instance was inappropriate. We say the "Prayer for the Government", which is in our prayerbooks, every shabbat (and pray for the President, regardless who he is or if we like him). I am very surprised the Rabbi was not able to convince him to overlook his personal feelings for the greater good.

  46. Two of my children just left for their gap year abroad. They both received their mail in ballots and as it was their first election, I asked them if they would like to vote by mail. They both said no, knowing that their votes won't count in our state, so I put them aside. This was all before this became an hour long story. I know who they want to vote for. If I were inclined, or lived in another state, what would stop me from mailing in 3 ballots, instead of just my one?? VOTER FRAUD IS VERY REAL!! If even unintentionally and done with no malcontent. Plenty of people don't know the vote by mail laws, or even understand the electoral college. What stops someone from doing it and they think they are actually doing the right thing? Or bc their kids decided that they want their parents to send it in for them? Intentional or otherwise, voter fraud DOES exist. Especially this election. Just become it came out of Trump's mouth, it doesn't always mean that it is not true.

  47. TSA is a deterrent. And in the US it is privatized and the jobs are farmed out to private security companies. Other countries actually have part of their police force or army covering that role. That is why the rules are always so different around the world, as well as how the officers perform their job. Many countries do a much better job at screening and give one a much better sense of security. Although there are plenty of countries that are just as bad as the US, if not worse.

Just as we did not lose as many lives as projected, there is no way that we can know that 36,000 live could have been saved. Also, CA--the 5th largest economy in the world--is a much larger state than New York, where I grew up, in a city with 8 million. But I grew up in an apartment. I now live in LA, right near the riots and looting, but in a house with space around me. You cannot compare the two. Just as you can't compare what Trump was advised by Fauci on Birx on one day, to whatever they told him two weeks later that made him take action. But when he said I am closing the borders, I immediately got on the phone, spent 5 hrs on hold,, and brought my son home from his gap year.. Before everyone else, so there were no lines or waiting at his first POE in the US. But 48 hrs later it was a mess. Things don't happen overnight. The country needs time to organize. And Trump acted early. Despite what the news was saying at the time. Go back and re-watch it instead of just repeating what the news is telling you. Better yet, get your own fair and balanced news and change the channel half the time.

But I do find it funny that your original source is Colombia University, who I am currently boycotting for the past two+ years for their stance on BDS (coincidentally our alma maters, but that was then). It just made me laugh even more. But as I tell everyone, vote your conscience. Even if your candidate is hiding in his basement bc his team won't let him out bc he has dementia, can't even make a coherent speech, let alone a sentence, and now won't even tell us who his advisors are! But again, everyone should vote their conscience and not be shamed for doing so!
