@jamescash887 He lied. He claimed the original bill had a 40% raise when it was actually a 3.9% cost of living adjustment after 15 years without one.
2
@joelm4847 It's like 0.00045% of the total budget package...

@chri6393 The meeting never actually happened. It was just planned. When news got out about it, he canceled it. Made a nice rant on Twitter about it, too. His policy that he signed off on did ultimately lead to the release of thousands of Taliban fighters, though. He allowed private negotiations between the Afghan government and the Taliban with no oversight or approval requirements, and they let the fighters go in a deal. Basically, he passed the buck to them so he could golf more, and it came back to bite him.
2
That's on him and his attempts to stall it. It could have been released much sooner. He tried to run out the clock and failed.
2
The Putin bots are strong in this comment section...
2
The fact that all of his major campaign promises are going to fall flat.
2
They do that on purpose so you'll have to replace rather than repair.
2
Cry harder.
2
So...Trump if he gets in. Got it.
2
Nothing wrong with changing one's opinion. A President represents the whole country not just one subsection. Only an authoritarian leader never budges.
2
@DaichiR40 Pyrrhic victories are generally not desirable outcomes for supposed superpowers... just saying.

@JeffreySmith-hx9hb More like the only sane, realistic, candidate in the race. The more Trump speaks the more he proves he'll destroy this country. Ignorantly or intentionally has yet to be decided.
1
True. However, the difference in seats between the parties rarely ever gets anywhere near 10. Thus, the current filibuster rules essentially give the minority party more power than the majority. The rules really could use some adjustments to make them more balanced.
1
Not really. Until Panama upgraded it at their own expense, it had become rather obsolete.
1
Most either come from money already or are otherwise independently wealthy to begin with. Also, you'd be amazed at how much they get paid for speaking engagements and in some cases, book deals.
1
Fear of reprisal from their God Emperor Trump and his devoted cultists.
1
You know it's available to the public right? Read it for yourself...cry baby

Kristi has a lot of b l o o d on her hands thanks to her inaction during Covid is SD. They had one of the highest percentages of their population game overed by it of any of the states as a result of her "leadership". Now she will bring her propensity for doing nothing to DHS...
1
We in the US are obligated to under signed agreement between the US, Ukraine, and Russia which Russia violated with their invasion. Also, plenty of countries have been sending supplies and weapons to Ukraine without such obligation and the UN is powerless because Russia is on the Security Council and can simply veto anything the UN tried to do about it.
1
Same as he has been doing. A small clerical error and a good faith claim that turned out to be false do nothing to weaken his case. The real question is how much deeper is the judge willing to dig her hole to protect the old burned out con artist who appointed her?
1
He is the swamp now. He's just filling it with his own hand picked loyal critters.
1
We signed an agreement with Russia and Ukraine that if Russia invaded Ukraine, the US would defend them from that invasion. There are other places to get money for the homeless. We must honor our agreement or we're no better than the Russia who violated it. This coming from someone currently living in their car...
1
@gandhithegreat328 Mob rule is for third world countries.
1
Correction. Vote Harris/Walz.
1
And the lazy Governor who did nothing during Covid but watch her state lose one of the highest percentages of it's population to it of all the states...same with the number of critical cases.
1
A president can't serve time while in office, so the only real problems this will cause is with travel and the 38 countries that don't allow convicted felons to enter them... which include many of our close allies.
1
Nah, insanity defense.
1
@dotmarceo He's interested. His job is simply impossible as long as the House of Representatives refuses to allow the use of the only effective bargaining chip we have.
1
It's a lark when the national debt is already astronomical and his policies are going to crash our economy further. Whose credit card does he think he's going to purchase it with?
1
Infidelity is a crime in the military. Hegseth has two marriages that ended due to admitted infidelity on his part. He has no business running the military. His inability to keep it in his pants also makes him an easy target for "honey pot" espionage attempts. Bad choice.
1
Cynicism...
1
I actually want his approval rating to rise. The pain of betrayal as things get worse over the next four years might actually wake some of his supporters up.
1
They did their job. Musk didn't even read the first bill and spread lies about it in social media posts. No one should take that ketamine addict seriously when it comes to running the government.
1
If his constituents disagree with his decision, they'll take care of the problem.

It was an interesting but reasonable tactical plan that failed because the rear guard (Afghan Army) folded in two days. To take the civilians out first would have alerted the Taliban that we were withdrawing and given them time to plan harassing operations. Taking all out nearly simultaneously avoids that. It just needs a rear guard to hold long enough to finish it. Any errors were in thinking civilians could up and leave as quickly and orderly as military. When the civilians were slow and the rear guard failed, we had to unexpectedly send troops back to get them. With no rear guard, a mess ensued. What else is there to investigate? Stuff goes wrong sometimes.
1
He's currently the only Dem from WV. A more progressive candidate wouldn't have a chance of being elected there. Thus trying to replace him with one would essentially just give the seat to a Republican. As is, he at least votes with the party occasionally.
1
They have not. The majority of the costs paid are from optional auctions where companies bid to move their ships to the front of the line. Due to extremely low water levels in the lake that supplies the canal and the region with fresh water, transit is slower and there's a traffic jam. Companies have been bidding so high against eaxh other that some pay more than triple the standard cost. That's on the companies, not Panama. They could simply wait their turn in line and pay the legitimate fee. Edit: Remove the auction bids and the Panama canal is significantly cheaper than the Suez to transit.
1
Please don't find dirt on her...Cannon will be his next pick.
1
Come on Vivek, throw MAGA a little DEI...
1
Served her purpose, no longer required.
1
Standing firm against Putin now is the only way to prevent such a war in the near future.
1
So many people cheering for something that goes against their own best interest... Our costs will rise and Mexico will simply slap some counter tariffs on us which will only further increase our trade deficit. A lose/lose for us and at best a minor inconvenience for them. It will do nothing at all to immigration.
1
That's up to his constituents to decide. Also, if he goes, the seat will definitely go to a Republican (any Democrat more progressive than him wouldn't have a chance of being elected in his state.) As is, he at least votes with the party occasionally.
1
He knows how to deal with someone like Putin far better than Trump. Judging by her statements in the debate, Harris does as well.
1
Lol. Donnie Jr. breaks up with her and to keep her silent, daddy ships her off to Greece on the national dime.
1
When the Republican led House of Representatives come back from vacation, I'm sure they'll address the matter...
1
Many NATO countries have been sending them supplies. The US has a signed agreement to defend them from Russian invasion so we are obligated to do so.
1
It would have been released much sooner as standard court procedure had Trump not tried everything possible to stall it.
1
Ultra-nationalist authoritarian tactic to give the support base scapegoats to blame for government failures on domestic issues.
