Tell that to SCOTUS and "judge" Cannon.

Yep, they don't even have to be making an effort to work with them at all. I wouldn't be surprised if the relief were to get passed before the end of the week though. If they can't agree in the next day or so, they'll just push it through. They can't afford to wait much longer.

Under the deal, Disney was paying for the fire department, emergency services, and pretty much everything else a county would be responsible for and only benefitting from relatively minor tax breaks. Now, that burden will go to the two counties it's located in while revenue from Disney will not significantly increase. Edit: The state will have to make up the difference somehow and that somehow will likely be through increased taxes.

The only thing corrupt in Georgia is your highway patrol...
5
Mar-A-Lago maybe...thanks to the security installed while he was President and with ample prep and a small army. Other than that, no. It cost about $500,000 per trip to do so under full protection while Trump was President so it's clearly not feasible unless he wants to pay for the costs beyond his current level of protection.
5
@sandrabecker666 about time he quit trying to mooch more of the taxpayer dime than he's entitled to.
5
The tax benefits were offset by Disney paying for the fire department, emergency services, and generally anything else a county would be responsible for. Now, the two counties Disney is located in will have to take on that burden while the tax revenue from Disney will only increase slightly if at all.
4
@sharoneldridge1920 When you factor in that they were paying for the fire department, emergency services, and pretty much everything else a county would be responsible for, they were paying their fair share. Now those costs will go to the two counties Disney is located in while tax revenue from Disney will not increase significantly. In other words, this is going to end up costing Florida more than Disney. All because their Governor isn't well versed in economics and took politics too personaly.
4
Emergency Warning Trying to use religious writings to spark a rebellion is not protected under freedom of religion. Be careful you don't cross that line.
4
This little tantrum of his is actually going to cost Florida more than it will Disney. He wasn't thinking of the people, he was childishly seeking vengeance for a political slight and using his office to do so.
4
Trump is predictable when it comes to his golfing habits. He plays three or four rounds at either that club or Mar-A-Lago per week. Sunday being a common day for him to show up at some point. His security has warned him about that and not letting them know which club until the last minute, and about how weak the built in security is at that particular club but he ignored them. Anyone with any sense would know that camping that club on a Sunday would offer a great opportunity to take a shot at him...at least prior to the attempt anyway. Hopefully Trump had some sense scared into him to listen to his security from now on.
4
Kinda like Trump...
4
Because nothing says FU to the Dems like giving them control of of the House, Senate, and White House...excellent logic there.
4
Other than Trump...there fixed your headline.
4
@kathycooper7872 Many costs Disney was originally responsible for are now going to be passed on to the two counties it's located in. Said costs will be higher than the slight increase in revenue from Disney will make up for.
4
Foreign aid makes up a ~1% to ~1.5% of the national budget. Using it as an excuse not to support a relief package is a joke.
4
Agreed. I finaly finished going over it and, for the most part, can't see what the fuss is about. The $15 minimum wage for federal employees doesn't belong in it but beyond that, it seems to be much more focused on what's it's meant for than the previous relief packages. Especially when it comes to the recovery process in the long term.
4
Because that has to be planned in advance for each stop or event. They don't fly around with that stuff... Also, he routinely short notices his security detail on many things and/or only stays at many stops briefly so it isn't feasible. Especially given the security allotted for former President's. If he's unhappy with his taxpayer funded protection, he's free to hire supplemental protection with campaign/personal funds.
4
I never knew "doers" was slang for dumbasses...learn something everyday.
3
Probably not the smartest approach since voters may decide to add "and elected federal officials who mismanaged this will not be re-elected" for good measure.
3
If only that were true with her. She lets her religious beliefs influence her legal decisions which is just as bad as ruling on emotion.
3
Or the would be assassin was just aware of Trump's golf habits which have been very predictable. He had probably a 40% chance of Trump showing up there that day at some point. That's good enough odds ro warrant spawncamping the place.
3
Then tell Trump and company to quit their pathetic stall tactics and let it go before a jury. If he's innocent, he should want his day in court.
3
Mail in ballots have to be done manually and take forever under normal circumstsnces (though there aren't usually enough to have a significant effect under normal conditions so they can take their time doing it.) Look at states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin who had 100s of thousands of mail ins and were prohibited by state election laws from counting them until election day and it's amazing they're doing as well as they are.
3
@pauline5411 Not after what he recently said concerning NATO and Russia. That man has no business ever being President again.
3
Yep. A true master of using a lot of words to say absolutely nothing...
3
Let's nor forget that Israel/Hamas are not on the UN Security Council while Russia and China unfortunately are. In other words, Russia/China can veto any attempt to force a ceasefire in Ukraine while Israel will have to fluff a security council member to get such an attempt vetoed.
3
To be fair, it's not that big of a deal. Foreign aid makes up ~1% to 1.5% of the entire national budget. Using it as an excuse to block the covid relief is silly.
3
In all fairness, it shouldn't really matter. Anyone who understands the laws involved with Presidential records and classified documents knows that there's about as much probable cause as investigators could ever dream of having behind that warrant. Some of Trump's own actions made it a slam dunk. Primarily his decision to only partially comply with the subpoena. By turning over the bits he did, he gave them all they needed to get the warrant. If he wasn't prepared to turn it all over then he shouldn't have turned any of it over. That would have made it much more difficult to get the warrant.
3
There are these things called balls...you might want to look into getting some.
3
I prefer people who think before they act, don't take politics personally, and definitely don't use their office to exact vengeance over a political slight...
2
Not a great idea to punish states for mismanagement when the President and his administration screwed the pooch on this equally as hard as they did. He may find himself without enough votes to bail him out with a re-election when all is said and done. (Not to mention how unwise it is for him to antagonize state where he'll be facing tax fraud charges etc. once he can no longer hide behind the Presidency...)
2
I'd rather get through this life without having to hear a US President fluffing a Russian dictator... Edit: I'd never get the slurping sounds out of my head.
2
Why not report on Trump's completely unhinged Truth Social post in reaction to the decision?
2
Yep, 300 lbs. of pure orange golfing power.
2
Backed by the government is better than backed by gold. Unless you want the world economy to go stagnate and slowly die...
2
@calsawyer5722 aww...how cute...you called people cunts...you're a real man now...
2
It takes one to know one...
2
You do not speak for America so shut up
2
Attacking the credibility of the whistle-blower is pointless when there's evidence and testimony from others supporting their claims. If Republicans want to save their President, they need to quit spamming the whistle-blower bs and start defending the President's actions with actual relevant arguments. Assuming such arguments can be found.
2
Yeah, but the interesting thing about SC Justices is that they don't owe the President who appointed them anything. Once they're sworn in, they're there for good. I did not want her on the bench but at the same time, I doubt she likes Trump at all. He's fake with his religious beliefs and doesn't have a great record when it comes to respecting women. I don't see her being all that biased in his favor. Especially if it comes to bending the law in his favor.
2
Weapons supply is the only diplomatic language the Israeli government speaks when it comes to dealing with us. If we wish to get them to a negotiation to end the fighting, then that is the language we must speak. The Republican party claims to want to stop the fighting and get the hostages released. If that's true then they should applaud Sanders plan or come up with one similar to get Israel's attention. Otherwise, it would be clear that they do not want the fighting to stop or the hostages returned and would prefer it to continue indefinitely.
2
What if everybody just ignored the law...
2
Naw, the person who needs to leave will be doing so in a little over 20 days.
2
He's one of the few Republicans who had the balls...er peaches to stand up to that fool they put in the White House. Those peaches should be added to the Georgia flag. Peaches of freedom.
2
Who's holding Trump accountable? The assassination of the Iraqi general was a direct violation of Iraq's sovereignty. If he refuses to remove our troops despite their parliament voting to expel them, that will be another such violation. He seems to have forgotten that he's the leader of the US, not Iraq. He needs to be reigned in before he commits anymore arrogant strategical/political blunders...and yet he's being praised instead
2
And no re-election for the President who mismanaged this.
2
Unfortunately the Cannons, Alitos, and Thomases of the system are apparently untouchable. Shame really.
2
Pork is not party exclusive.
2
No, but Trump refusing once again to realize that there is a center/moderate demographic and that they ultimately decide elections does mean votes. The loss of them. If the Dems use some of that money to reach out to said demographic and Trump continues his all or nothing hard line right/if you don't agree with all I say, you're my enemy approach, he loses. It's that simple. He has to bend a bit, or fail.
