Allowing states to violate the 13th amendment's prohibition of "involuntary servitude" is, as it sounds, a direct violation of a constitutional right. Nowhere in the constitution does it even suggest that a pre-viability fetus counts as a person for the purposes of constitutional protection. Even if it did, it wouldn't matter in any situation involving the constitutional rights of the woman carrying said fetus. The courts have consistently ruled, in cases where the father of a fetus seeks to prevent an abortion, that despite both parties having a stake in the decision, the fact that the woman is the one who will have to do the work of carrying and giving birth leaves the decision ultimately up to her as she is more invested. If it's work, then the 13th amendment prevents the government/law from forcing it.

  10. It's actually a pretty decent bill. Direct payouts are just band-aids that do nothing to fix things. This bill focuses on ling term recovery and reopening along with the payouts. In the long run it will be better than them just continuing to throw random amounts of money at us.

  29. More like federal workers get $285...That bit is budgeted for $570M and there are over 2 million federal employees who potentially qualify for it. It's medical/covid related paid leave based on pay grade and the vast majority of those who qualify make more than the income cap for most of the other aid in the bill (including the $1,400 checks.)

The latter being what the deaths of these three will classify as since the "court" has no legitimacy due to the "republic" behind it not existing. That area is still internationally recognized as part of Ukraine. Thus, their court has sole jurisdiction. If these men are killed, all involved will be war criminals and the SAS/MI6 etc. will have fun hunting them down and bringing them to justice.

  40. There's a big difference. The "republic" holding the "trial" doesn't exist (the area is still internationally recognized as part of Ukraine.) Thus, it's "court" is illegitimate. If thess men are killed, it will be the equivalent of summary execution (a war crime) and even mercs (edit: as well as spies...which these men don't classify as anyway) are protected from such. Also, any "separatists", neck bearded pro-Russian Chechens, Syrians, Wagner group members, etc. that Ukraine has captured can be considered mercs (or traitors when it comes the small fraction of the "separatists" with actual ties to the Donbas region) and thus subject to the same fate if that's how they want to play it. Edit: Also, one of the three is married to a Ukrainian and has dual citizenship with Ukraine.
