Then he should just come clean and apologize...The evidence CNN compiled is overwhelming.

Because the ruling shouldn't even apply to those it does...The six SCOTUS Justices ruled based on personal/political opinion rather than Constitutional law. They know it too. That's why five out of six of them didn't want their names attached to the majority opinion...it's arguments would be complete garbage even if their ruling were actually Constitutional (which it's not.)
1
@garyjackson3531 That comment won't age well.
1
One more thing he apparently failed to do...going by the utter lack of a red wave. It appears as though the Dems will hold the Senate and House.
1
He'll likely point out that he tried to pressure Israel into negotiating by blocking an arms shipment but was forced to release it by Republicans in Congress...If he feels like revealing an uncomfortable truth.
1
Kentucky is literally one of the states which receive far more federal money than they pay in federal taxes. I wonder if the little hypocritical hobbit would be willing to account for what all of those funds are being spent on?
1
@Jobfilm1 Yes, but what classifies as murder is subjective. The majority of the population do not consider abortion to be murder.
1
@Jobfilm1 The definition of human is subjective. Personally, mine requires at least development to the point of higher brain function capability/sentience. That doesn't occur for quite awhile with a fetus. Prior to that, it's a mindless machine under construction that can't survive on it's own. That's not a human, it's a fetus.

Keep them blinders on...

We have no official language. Get over it.
1
They work for their constituents. Since the majority of said constituents are against this legislation, an argument could be made that they are doing their jobs by walking out to prevent a vote on it.

Given the data, it's the best course of action when it comes to the military (who already had ~17 mandated vaccines before covid 19 even came along.) Infectious diseases can greatly affect the military as a whole when it comes to effectiveness. Refusal to get vaccinated (along with taking other precautions as well if required) against one that is deemed a threat to military effectiveness is a completely selfish act that puts more than just the individual at risk and selfish soldiers tend to be unreliable soldiers. Also, given the statistics, refusal shows a significant lack of judgement which can lead to further unreliability and increased risk. Those who refuse it for reasons other than a legitimate medical exemption perhaps, should be medically discharged and let that be the end of it. (Those with medical exemptions should probably be assigned desk/non combat related jobs when feasible.)
1
@lindaparker1043 Going by Texas covid data from January to October of last year, the vaccinated were ~10 to ~30 times (depending on the variant) less likely to catch it than the unvaccinated (with similar ratios for deaths/hospitalizations.) Fewer people catching it means fewer people spreading it...

The business owner should add "Catholic weddings" to their not going to do it list as well.
1
It's just frustration with the lack of anyone he can throw under a bus along with his inability to buy his way out of trouble like he has for pretty much his entire life.
1
Prove it. It's called plausible deniability and we'd get the same from them in a similar situation.
1
@mitchellcrane9809 Only because he had it easy. Whoever won in 2020 was in for a nightmare due to Trump's inept handling of things and often just plain inaction. That's why he threw the 2020 election and concocted his nonsense about a stolen election. He planned on skipping the hard part then coming back in 2024 with no real intentions of actually fixing anything. If elected, he'll spend all four years blaming his opponents for his failures, finish his goal to sabotage NATO and the US Military, and then ride off into the sunset giving no effs about this country. His only true objective is to go down in history as a two term Preaident for his ego.
1
@andrewknudson7712 She's recently laid some of her economic policy plans out... which is what prompted Trump to start throwing around the Communist attacks here. That's more than Trump has laid out. He just continues whispering sweet nothings. That won't win him an election as independents, moderates, and centrists want to hear plans, not vague promises.
1
MAGA standards are woefully low... It reflects on his boss's judge of character and lack of a vetting process when picking people to back. Both of those are important factors to being President. Passing the buck to the NC voters only is a pathetic dodge.
1
In this case you should tell them to actually read the laws...The stuff being passed by Republican led state legislatures is extremely biased against the urban population (the bluest vote in pretty much all states.) While there are parts of this federal act that don't need to be there, to refuse to address the issue at all at the federal level is childish on the part of the GOP.
1
The bots are strong in this comment section...
1
Way to pass the buck for his boss's poor judge of character and lack of a vetting process before endorsing someone. Spoken like a true old school politician.
1
And he keeps pushing them away...it's almost as if no one wants to win this election...

It was a waste of time and will continue to be so for any other attempts like this at the state level. The US Constitution prevents someone who participated in an insurrection/rebellion from holding office. It says nothing about their running for it. As long as a candidate meets the requirements of a state's constitution when it comes to being placed on the ballot, that candidate can be on the ballot. Were a state to end up electing a candidate who is not eligible to hold office under Federal law, they would likely be forced to enact the procedures under their state constitution concerning results which constitute an undecided election or risk essentially having their electoral college votes invalidated.
1
It would be pretty pointless to read it before they start hammering out the specifics through debate. They have rough outlines available on how much funding is going to various aspects of infrastructure. Once debate gets going, we'll get a better picture.
1
@SkeletonQuay5 This isn't the 1980s... Miami is a joke and has been for quite awhile.
1
Yep, and it in no way protects a candidate who has his party force a state's election officials to take a backroom phone call in which said candidate directly asks said officials to "find" him enough votes to change the outcome. That's illegal in every state in the Union. Criminal conspiracy is not and never has been protected speech.
1
It is for covid relief. It's just more than the band-aids the previous bills have been. The majority of the cost is targeted at long term recovery and reopening. In the long run, it's going to take more than just cash payments to fix this mess. The so called pork makes up like 0.05% of the bills total cost yet people bitch about it like it's the end of the world...The GOP are just being spiteful with the false information they've been spreading about this bill. They're overdue for a diaper change.
1
Biden can't do anything like what they're asking without additional funding, and executive orders can't create funding. Johnson can try to get Congress to pay for it with our money if he wants...good luck with that.
1
Every press secretary ever.
1
@tanyaracco9668 No, it's not...
1
@silentmajority8365 The amount of guards necessary would be immense (all the tech can do is say "Hi we see you, welcome to the country") and that doesn't even cover those that come by sea in containers etc. Our borders are too massive and would take the whole US Military to lock down and probably then some at a time when the military can't even meet it's quotas. Also, under international agreement, asylum seekers have to be accepted. Something Trump's "remain in Mexico" policy violated and only got a pass because of covid. It's not as easy as you would think. Especially the funding. A President could issue all the executive orders they want but they can't approve additional funding for them. They have to work within the existing budget for the relevant agency(s) and the money isn't there for a proper lock down. Nowhere near.
1
Israel's nukes. We've had a quiet agreement with them for decades where they won't include the use of their nuclear arsenal in their military doctrine as long as we continue to support them.
1
I expect him to grow a pair and negotiate on Ukraine's side. Not from a submissive position.
1
@lisamaloof5772 Because they have officially requested asylum and meet the standards as laid out by our immigration laws and international agreements. Two things Trump cares nothing for. Also, at least the Haitians are helping rebuild Springfields dead economy after they lost ~30,000 people well before any immigrants started showing up.
1
@ErikDayne The cost might not be a complete waste. The sheer lunacy of it's handling is somewhat entertaining... in a train wreck sort of way.
1
He has refused help from tech people who support him. Tells me all I need to know.
1
He also enabled terrorists by destabilizing NATO and throwing our rapid response hub for Europe and the Middle East in Germany into chaos. The man's a menace.
1
They are. For the long run. Not just quick fixes that only end up causing more problems later. This is the modern world not the early 1900's. Isolationism doesn't work.
1
He's definitely a good politician. He continues to line his pockets with money while his state remains one of the poorest in the country. If it weren't for the blue states bailing them out with their federal tax money, even more of his state would look like a third world country than it already does.
1
Nice strategy to try and appear innocent to those who refuse to actually look at the evidence. Any suit will not get anywhere before the election so he'll be free to drop it afterward to avoid having to pay CNN's legal fees...
1
@kseke25 Replace the 30,000+ Americans who left the city long before the migrants ever came. Currently the economy is thriving and expanding with the increased workforce and consumer base. Something the city needed. Just like any city that experiences a population boom, schools, hospitals, etc. get overwhelmed for awhile (happened in my area years ago when we ended up quadrupling in population in ~12 years with a lot coming early on). Eventually, the economic upturn gets leveraged into school and hospital expansion etc. and the problem works itself out. It's called growing pains. It doesn't matter what the color of their skin or origin is. Assimilation takes place over time if allowed to without hysteria, bigotry, etc. Things don't happen overnight.
1
@henrybroadnax6430 They came here legally under asylum claims that must be processed to determine their long term status. Until that occurs, they're legal. Learn the laws of your land and the international agreements we've signed.
1
@henrybroadnax6430 You said they came here illegally... The vast majority of Haitian immigrants in Springfield went through the asylum requesting process the proper way and thus came here legally.
1
Monopolism and collusion at the corporate level is making a comeback and the Conservatives historically label any attempt to fight it as Communism/far left socialism.
1
A security clearance generally isn't needed to view the cover sheet of a classified document (which is all anyone other than those with the proper clearance have seen...except any Trump may have shown that is.)
1
The wall doesn't work. People have been climbing over/tunneling under the completed parts since they were built. This is just grandstanding for votes on the part of these Senstors (wouldn't be surprising if they were somehow tied to it's completion financially as well.)
1
I can respect his military service...this is just pathetic though. I've seen footage of far more people simply climbing over that stupid wall...
1
Matt 88 The overall goal of the laws is to make managing elections in highly populated urban areas (usually the "bluest" areas of a state) nearly impossible by stacking all sorts of little restrictions and deadlines on them which can't be met while not increasing the hardships on the rural areas (usually the "redest" areas in a state) in any significant way. The focus on race, ID, etc. is just classic Dem stupidity and shameless manipulation of minority voters. If they would have focused on the real problems, they likely could have gotten more people on their side...
1
@kennethoneal9938 Yeah, it pretty much is.
