Now, QE doesn't cause inflation, it's a monetary policy that prevents banks that have bad debt in form of securities from becoming insolvent by bank accounting rules without releasing a single penny of money into the economy. Are you telling that you don't know anything about macroeconomics, either? :-)

  5. As much as I dislike Trump as a human being, he did tell the Germans the truth: it is time to step up to the plate and to defend the free world that they are profiting off. Freedom is not free. It has to be paid for in blood and coin. Nobody would be upset if Germany would at least spend the coins.

  6. Yes, in China it did, but not because of inflation. The GDP per capita in China has risen tenfold over twenty years. That's good for the country, but it means that China is no longer competitive in many low cost goods. Other countries are now cheaper. Germany doesn't make those goods to begin with and therefor doesn't have that problem.

  11. There is no indication that he knew the details of the attack. If he was asked to do this, then he may have guessed what it was for. We may never know. The US government is probably asking him to stay mostly silent on these matters. That's a genuine request that a good patriot will honor.

  12.  @itseveryday8600  Let me ask you this: if you were the US government and you would be planning a long term upgrade to all of your military space assets, maybe including a complete revamping of your nuclear defense posture, what would you ask a rocket manufacturer to do for you? Might is look like the reusable rapid launch capable Falcon 9/Falcon Heavy and Starship architecture? Would you love to have the ability to build ultra cheap, liquid fueled ICBMs on a tiny production line in the middle of nowhere from fairly conventional materials (like rolled steel sheet...) with cheap tooling using mostly stock construction equipment? Would you like an ultra high performance rocket engine that costs a quarter of a million dollars a piece to make and of which thousands can be manufactured in a year, if funding becomes available? Would you like the ability to put ten thousand satellites into orbit in less than a decade (each carrying a small re-entry payload...)? So, then, do you get the feeling that SpaceX may not be "just" an effort to get Elon Musk to die on Mars... just not on impact? Can you further imagine that this "humanitarian effort to make mankind multiplanetary" might put the fear of total Armageddon into the hearts and minds of Russian, Chinese and North Korean military planners? :-) And, no, I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I think I can still tell dual-use when I see dual-use.

  20. Germany has twice the GDP of Russia. It has far better military technology and can afford to buy even better tech from the US. Germany alone could easily defeat Russia in a conflict IF it decided to be prepared for one.

  49. Germany has five times the GDP of Poland and more than twice its population. Germany and Poland have the exact same security interest: to contain Russia. Germany owes Poland a big one and one way to repay that debt is to take a central role in NATO. Moreover, Europe, in totality, has approx. 80% of the GDP of the United States. There is no reason why it can't spend at least $400 billion a year on defense. It would create a lot of very good jobs in addition to making the world far more safe for everybody.
