Russia’s longtime ally India left the partnership to develop the Su-57 for several reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is because of the Su-57’s lack of stealth features. India pretty much said that Russia needed to start all over to try to rectify the situation. There’s a reason why Russia isn’t using the Su-57 to perform deep strike missions in Ukraine, and it’s because it knows it will get shot down, and if that happens then there goes the possibility of making any future sales.

@vladislavovi44 The US did not need NATO to go inside Iraq and Afghanistan. Russia never could have achieved what the U.S. did logically. Russia has struggled logically fighting Ukraine that is on its own border. Involving foreign nations was only to demonstrate that it was an international backed operation. Furthermore, the F-35 does not have a kill switch.

@vladislavovi44 😂 You’re joking right? You didn’t even know what RAM was. My comments are entirely accurate. In fact, you won’t find one credible source that agrees with you. Russia is decades behind the US. The Su-57 is a perfect example. It’s less powerful, its radar signature is much larger, its radar pales in comparison, and its situational awareness and sensor fusion come nowhere near the F-22. Another example is the Russian Su-34. Downed Su-34s have shown to carry taped-on GPS devices that I can buy from Walmart. It shows two things. That Russian navigation systems stink, and that they can’t rely on Russia’s Glonass. Just a few samples of what the F-35 can do. It pretty much does the flying so that the pilot can strategize. The F-35 automatically detects targets, determines a probability of kill for each one, shares this information with other assets in the field, and determines the best firing solution to defeat the foe. The F-35 has in tests linked with a HIMARS and destroyed a naval target with a GLMRS rocket, and it’s also linked with a SAM to intercept a cruise missile. Russia is not a technological leader, and it’s shown it in the war in Ukraine.

@ LOL, it doesn’t matter if it can’t detect the target, like a F-22. Russia just started using AESA for the first time in its Su-57 while the US has been using AESA for decades and has it in thousands of aircraft. You think that Russia is going to surpass the US when the US has had a huge lead in this field for nearly three decades? What I see is that you still have no common sense. And L-band radars have very poor target acquisition capabilities, among other things. The F-22’s AN/APG-77 AESA radar system can detect aircraft from over 320 mi (515 km) away. The F-22’s AN/ALR -94 system is passive, and yet it detects and tracks targets over 250 nm away. There’s a reason why in exercises that the F-22 uses a radar reflector against the adversaries. It’s too easy for the F-22 to win when the opponent can’t ever see them.

@ Russia just started using AESA radar in its fighters. It tried it with the Mig-35 in the MMRCA tender, but India was disappointed with its detection range. In the meantime the US used it in the F-15C decades ago and now fields it in thousands of aircraft. 😂 Wow, one F-117 was shot down after flying many thousands of sorties and over a period of 30 years. It performed the most deep strike missions out of any fighter. It was shot down due to human error of flying a predictable flight path. It flew the same flight path four nights straight and at the same time at night. US commanders even admitted messing up. Russia to date still won’t chance flying deep strike missions with its Su-57 because it knows it will get shot down.

@ Most definitely lack of power. I’ve seen its take offs and they’re nothing impressive. Why else would Russia have been saying since its beginning that they plan in replacing its engines? One of India’s biggest complaints about the Su-57 is its engine.

@ The only one who says it has a 400km kill is Russia, and we know how honest Russia is. NOT VERY. From the beginning there’s been doubt about Russia’s claims. You need to have deep strike capabilities to control what’s going on below. If Russia had control over the skies everything below would be vulnerable. Ukraine would struggle moving supplies, using its HiMARS, Patriot missiles, etc., and command and control centers would be more subject to attack. We know they’re not happening because there have been no fighters dropping bombs or shooting missiles from the skies above places like Kyiv. You’ve got to be kidding me.

The shooting down of a Ukrainian fighter at 400 km has been disputed by the Ukrainians from when the story was first reported, and there’s been no evidence that supports it. There’s no way people are just going to believe Russia after it’s been so dishonest in the past. Tell me you’re kidding about not needing deep-strike capability and how would a person know what.

@ LOL, no it doesn’t. The one thing you will never hear from a pilot who has flown the F-22 or flown against it is that it’s underpowered. Pilots who have gone up against it rave about its power saying its power allows the F-22 pilot to be able to make a mistake and be able to safely recover from it while in other aircraft it would mean a death sentence. The simplest fact that India openly stated that one of the main reasons why they left the partnership to develop the Su-57 is because of its engines, and the fact that Russia’s been saying its been working on a replacement engine for over a decade speaks volumes. Accept it, the Su-57 isn’t anything impressive. Its stealth, avionics, etc., are all questionable if they meet the definition of a 5th gen fighter.

@sashazxtt LOL, the Su-57 is the joke in n the defense community. Why do you think Russia has struggled for so long to get even a single sale? It’s supposed to be a great dogfighter, and yet you can’t find any legitimate video of it shooting its guns or air to air missiles from internal bays in flight. I can tell you right now that it doesn’t have the ability to launch an air to air missile from an internal bay while inverted. Experts even question if it’s truly a 5th gen fighter, or if it’s in name only.

Even Russia’s longtime military partner India left the partnership to develop the Su-57. India cited numerous problems, especially with its lack of stealth features and its engines. India never would have left the partnership if it felt that the Su-57 had any kind of future. The fact that the Su-57 is Russia’s first fighter to have AESA, which is considered essential for a stealth fighter’s radar, while the US has had it in fighters for around 25 years and has it in thousands of aircraft is just another example of how far Russia is behind. The fact that the U.S. has had in service stealth aircraft for around 40 years and has built numerous stealth aircraft, while Russia just put into service its first also demonstrates how far Russia is behind. The fact that Russia is afraid to use the Su-57 to conduct deep strike missions into Ukraine speaks volumes that Russia itself isn’t confident that it’s truly a 5th gen fighter. If Russia had a true stealth aircraft, the Ukrainian air force would be under constant alert, and Patriot and HIMARS would be exposed to attack, and so would Ukrainian supply lines. Russia has shown no ability to control the skies as more and more Ukrainian fighters are dropping bombs on Russian targets.

Unlike the Su-57 that has just a small number produced, over 1,100 F-35s have been made, and over one million flight hours have been flown. Is that why nearly every day I am seeing Russian targets getting bombed by Ukrainian fighters? Russia can’t achieve air superiority over a country with an old and significantly outnumbered air force, and you think it has a chance against a country with a modern air force? “Indian officials voiced concerns about the Su-57's cost, poor engineering, and unreliable engines, leading to India's withdrawal from the FGFA (Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft) project in 2018, citing the aircraft's failure to meet their requirements.” Cope harder.

So many countries wouldn’t be lining up to buy the F-35 is it was faulty. Israel has used it deep inside Syria to strike Hezbollah, and inside Iran to strike its S-300s. Israel likes it enough to buy even more of them. The US has also used it deep inside Syria and Yemen. Russia is afraid to use its Su-57 deep inside Ukraine. 5th generation my 4ss.

@ I guess you think that shooting down a Mig 29 is a big deal. SAMs 70 years ago could do the same thing. And regardless, Russia still hasn’t stopped the Ukrainian Air Force from striking targets. Russia’s air defenses have been a joke. Its fighters have been unable to achieve air superiority over Ukraine’s old and significantly outnumbered fighters, and Russia’s SAMs have repeatedly failed to protect strategic targets. Only one F-16 has been confirmed to have been shot down, with speculation that it was by friendly fire. Russia has claimed more, but Russia is rarely honest, and there have been no visual confirmations of any Russian kills, just typical Russian propaganda. You’re just so brainwashed that you’ll believe whatever the Russian media says.

@ Just the fact that this war has gone on for over three years and Russia isn’t able to take control of the skies against a very small air force and outdated aircraft is telling by itself. In fact, the number of increased airstrikes by Ukraine is steadily going up. I’ve seen more bombs dropped from Ukrainian fighters this last week than ever before. Russia claims a lot of things that aren’t true. I’m still seeing HIMARS strikes routinely on Russian targets. Long range drone strikes are still very common. No joke, around a year ago I saw a Storm Shadow flying over the heads of a Russian S-400 battery as the soldiers laughed as it was heading towards a Russian airbase in Crimea. I’ve seen 30 year old ATACMS take out S-400s while the SAMs just seconds before launched missiles trying to intercept them. You name it, Russia’s SAMs have routinely failed to protect ammo dumps, airbases, training grounds, naval bases, headquarters, bridges, etc. I’ve seen it in videos, unlike you who only spouts Russian propaganda.

Facts are Russia’s SAMs haven’t effectively protected its strategic targets. If Russia had a true 5th generation fighter it would rule the skies, and everything below would be subject to attack. Aircraft carry much heavier bomb loads, they can have an immediate effect in a battle, and they can effectively shut down an offensive push on the spot. If Russia had control, it would also be more effective in getting troops behind enemy lines, it would be able to thwart Ukraine’s air force, it would silence air defenses, and it would have a severe impact on Ukraine’s command and control systems, including its communications. Instead Russia is losing more men in just one week than what the US lost in twenty years in Iraq and Afghanistan. I see the video results. They’re showing S-400s getting destroyed. They’re showing Storm Shadows hitting Russian airbases and command centers. They’ve shown ATACMs striking numerous Russian targets. How do you think that Russia has lost so many commanding officers? Russia is only taking ground because Ukraine isn’t being properly supplied, and because Putin doesn’t care about how many Russian troops lives are lost. The US has been the main supplier of weapons, and yet it’s just a small percentage of what’s in the U.S. arsenal. Furthermore, the United States has only provided less than 5% of its annual DOD budget to help Ukraine, with much of the aid from old stockpiles. With Trump in office it will only get worse for Ukraine. He’s not interested in providing billions in weapons when he believes that the European countries should be doing more. Remember when Wagner was heading towards Moscow with just a few thousand troops and Russia couldn’t stop them? Putin had to flee in fear. Remember when Ukraine took a large chunk of Kursk? If Russia had air superiority that never would have happened. And Ukraine didn’t start receiving the more sophisticated air defense systems until way after the war started.
