  42. I read an article explaining the Project Agora. As far as I can understand, it's basically executable/programmable tokens of money and assets, which may involve so called smart contracts. Instead of stationary software on servers settling transactions by communication at distance, the tokens contain executable code which handles the transfer. This is supposed to speed up transactions and enable more complex contracts. The tokens are backed by a central bank.

By designing a virus artificially in a lab which could naturally evolve in the future, one could start developing vaccines/treatments in advance. Secondly, it may be in the interest of public health and safety to know how much it would take to create a lethal pandemic pathogen. If it turns out to be easy, it would motivate investment in increasing preparedness.
