  2. @DoYerBest Yes, and the argument fails in that it relies on two weak assumptions. All it does is reflecting the ignorance of the author. As the space-time fabric of the theory of relativity breaks down as the universe is extrapolated towards a singularity, the terms "cause", "effect", "existance" and "beginning" become meaningless. In other words: what is "cause" without the dimension of time? What is existance without the spatial dimensions?

He invented the first commercially sustainable lightbulb: long life, low power consumption, and cheap to manufacture. Yes, he hired people to hurry up the process, and that's why he's now seen as the father of the modern industrial research lab. He contributed greatly to modern society.

  7. Yes, and every time climate has changed rapidly, it has affected human civilization, causing floods, draughts, cold snaps, starvation, disease, migration, etc. The difference this time is that we are at large responsible for the climate change and have the technological means to control it.

  37. It's called H1N1, not "N1H1". The "spanish flu", an ancestor of the H1N1 virus, killed between 50 and 130 million people during the 1918-1920 pandemic. Whatever side effects you refer to, I'm sure they are mild in comparison. If there was a conspiracy to lower the world population, they'd be much better off creating a placebo vaccine and let the virus ravage.

  38. Keep in mind that evolution is a driscrete process. A creature's genome remain the same throughout its' life time, regardless of what it eats. It's only the probability of reproduction and raising offspring that changes. Although meat/fish might enhance the positive effects of having an advanced brain, it's generally considered that it was a drastic environmental change that was the main factor that drove the genetic drift towards higher intelligence.

  50. You should watch a talk by Richard Wilkinson called "How economic inequality harms societies" It's true that income inequality is a very important factor that is often neglected, but the macroinequality is also a problem.
