@racpembertondual Then I think you should watch Tyler Cowen's talk called "Be suspicious of stories". Chances are you didn't find this talk very interesting because he wasn't telling a story, he was telling the truth. Anyhow I find this very interesting.

No. Education will not necessarily be a problem because they believe in Allah. Iran handles education just fine.

This video makes me a bit down. It makes my dream of humanity working togeather as one seem not so bright anymore. It's like creating a world-wide monopoly. Without the pressure of competition, the groups overall performance become irrelevant to the individual, the 'slackers' will benefit from being selfish, and the group will dissolve.

He talks about reducing the GROWTH of population, not reduce the current population. Moron.

I can't see why so many Atheists find this provoking. I find it interesting.

Minimalism could imply the artist is economic, never using more resources than absolutely necessary. There are many things in nature that were important to our ancestors that are asymmetric. Remember when he talked about landscapes and natural beauty? Deviant designs could imply eg. ingenuity or creativity.

Good luck with your information bubble!

...but what about the war movies? Hollywood will not be the same if US stop tossing bombs around the world.

Yeah sure, DNA in individual cells can be damaged (mutated) during your life time (eg. cancer), but let's keep this in context. Unless the cell is a spermatogonium it won't transfer to the offspring, and unless this mutation is not biased in towards a more advanced brain, it does not cause genetic drift (apart from natural selection). While the prior is unlikely but possible, the latter is against everything I know about evolution. Mutations are not biased to favour certain traits.

Great talk! Was not aware of how prevalent this is.

The crystals were simply thrown into the air by the underlying membrane, and the resulting mess had little to do with sound.

@andyd568 Do you think this is an inherent trait of human nature or a result of the society we have built? Could it be easier to love and be loved if our society was to a higher degree crafted by people like David Brooks?
