Alright so let's not use it then.

@bhaveshkumar9052 What are these other means of exploitation and who is making money off of them?
2
"Your voice is decelerating!" <-- Compliment for physicists!
2
The question is how to measure these.
2
To be honest, the interviewer (Bryn Freedman?) seems to have far more interesting opinions than Halla.
2
Nice try TED. However, the only way to restore trust in vaccines is by showing that the narrative holds under free inquiry and open discussion.
2
Síndico_do_Rato To avoid deaths of US citizens, and witnesses.
2
@simsational... There are many methods of measuring stellar distances, with more or less assumptions. What's your opinion of the parallax method?
2
@DegreesOfThree Good question. There are ways to measure attraction between small objects on earth. You can measure the mass of these objects independently by observing how they accelerate in response to other forces than gravity. With these tools you should be able to come up with an equation which relates attraction, mass and distance. Orbital period emerges from this equation.
2
@DegreesOfThree It means you can measure the gravitational constant without making assumptions about mass. Now you can measure the downwards pull on an object towards earth and infer its mass.
2
Do you realize how funny it is that it takes a young bold man in yellow T-shirt to say what should be obvious to everyone.
2
29:38 "Stop questioning IMF policy and do as you're told!"
2
@Studi037 6:15 It was highly related to what he was trying to explain. When covering a nerdy subject it's important to give concrete examples to every now and then to keep the audience alert.
2
You are on point. The fallacy lies in the application of statistics to individuals. Example: A randomly picked individual out of category A has an 80% chance of being a woman. Flawed reasoning: Jacob, you belong to category A, so you are probably a woman. No? I'm sorry Jacob, you can't argue with statistics.

The anger. The sadness. The hope.

I think he just shared his experiance to raise awareness and gratitude of the incredible job that surgeons do.
2
Wireless power from space... you mean like solar energy?

"this concept may sound a little big brother" 'Big brother' implies passive centralized surveillence. This is something else. Imagine staining your reputation at young age, knowing that this will be broadcasted for everyone to see for the rest of your life, wherever you go. Sometime people need the opportunity of a fresh start in order to improve their ways. Her concept is terrible on this aspect. Watch this and you'll understand what I mean: /watch?v=XBmJay_qdNc&feature=plcp

@MajICReiki Fair point. I guess what I'm saying is that the explanation that is most frequently offered: "Deluded Putin seeks to restore Soviet glory by conquering Ukraine" is too one-dimensional.
2
That's some daring attire.
2
Life is a complex mess of countless chaotic variables of nature and nurture. Let's stop assuming we know the lived experience of others based on a few vague characteristics.
2
I don't want change.
2
"Turn the fucking wheel!" Yeah, the question is in which direction he should turn. He's navigating an ocean of countless dimensions and there are more icebergs out there.
2
If climate change wasn't such a pretext for transfering wealth and power away from ordinary people, I think it would be more popular. I wish scientists could give us an estimate of the risks of having earth controlled by a small group of globalist, unaccountable, unelected elites.
2
The sad part is that even if EU is carbon neutral by 2050 and the rest of the planet is not, EU is no less screwed than the rest.
2
The greatest risk with measuring a nation's success by its GDP will emerge if/when China's GDP races past US economy and becomes world's new center for trade and finance. This will tell us that liberal democracy is an interior system. We need to rediscover why our ancestors decided to put up with the often tedious and ineffective system of democracy.
2
@ugochiazide1625 Obviously masculinity must exist within the bounds of the law. But that leaves plenty of room to develop an idea of their own. If you want to shape the way boys develop, lead by example.
2
Yeah, I think you're on to something. It seems the reason for the panic about social media platforms is not that these are fundamentally flawed, but that they are beyond the control of the establishment. They have grown fond of their strong grip on the flow of information and now panic because people have turned to social media platforms which are outside their sphere of influence.
2
@somor98 I think he explained that very well. Individuals that work togeather have a better chance of survival than those who don't. He even braught up the possibility of 'slackers' who use the benefits of the group without contributing, but then argued that under threat of being outperformed and overrun by other groups, such behaviour would be a disadvantage.

My time is over.

Nick brings nothing new to the table, though he brings something to a new table. I hope his fellow plutocrats are willing to listen.

Jon Wise Yes, the projection is of course extrapolation from the current trend and cannot account for any dramatic change. There is a chance that life expectancy will extend dramatically quite soon, yes, but it may also take 100 years, or more. You also need to consider that the rapid progress made on AI which may eventually unlock our key to longer life may also bring other technological innovations which have a different influence on the trend. What I'm saying is that it is probably best to act on trends suggested by solid data and not speculate.
1
Jon Wise Agreed.
1
Xifong Christian Nope. Will check it out!

Michael Taylor Couldn't have said it better myself. :)
1
Kenneth McCormick Martyrdom is often presented as the purest form of altruism, that is to sacrifice one self for the greater good.
1
0cards0 I think it is an interesting idea though. Wouldn't a selfish individual understanding that one is better off helping others than only looking to oneself seek to help others out of selfish interest?
1
"So you're a parasite living off the hard work of others." Didn't we all gladly recieve years of education and support at the cost of others before we began contributing to society? Why can't we grant newcomers from across the boarder the same opportunity as we grant newcomers through the birth canal?
1
The frustrating part is that we can't actively fix the middle east, this is something they need to do themselves, such that they can find pride and take responsibility in what they have created.
1
Another useless comment about the speaker supposedly getting away with being racist against white people.
1
Mr2awsomeness Because islamophobia and intolerance towards Muslims has never been addressed in media.

***** Yes.

Waltham1892 What's the option?

amerahkiin Well, if not untraceable, at least demand that precautions are taken to sweep away the traces.
1
soapbxprod Lack of reliable data I would presume.

iLeanOn Ice Since lack of production of Vitamin D due to migration to less sunny places. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypovitaminosis_D#Darker_skin_color

theslimeylimey So what I'm saying is she made some good points and her work is clearly valuable. You shouldn't allow yourself to be distracted from that because she told the story from her personal and cultural perspective. Then you would be actually missing something, as you sarcastically suggested in your first comment.

I try to treat people how I want to be treated, however this sometimes cause problems as not all people want to be treated as I do.
1
Polymers are produced by serial linking of tiny molecules called mers (hence poly-mer). I assume they first let the mers soak into the tissue before they trigger the linking processes.
1
Why didn't he show the above ground solar collector in his tech demonstration? Seems like he's hiding something.
