  10. Agerr Gerra I only know FDM by first hand experience, and in that case you can almost make any shape you want that's plastic. There are however some limitations. It has a resolution, meaning there is a minimum thickness you can obtain and all dimensions has to be specified in terms of discrete increments. It is also not possible to create completely closed hallow shapes as this makes it impossible to remove the support material. This is just one among many 3D printing principles though. I think SLA for example is more flexible when it comes to dimensions.

  12. Narrow application? As an example, the neural networks in today's artificial intelligence algorithms are based on a lot of assumptions regarding how our brains work. If we learn more about neurons work in our brain, we can implement this knowledge into AI, inventing smarter algorithms capable of solving problems and performing tasks of higher complexity.

  20. Evolution by natural selection is a slow and cruel process in which randomly less adapted individuals must be eliminated for the good of future generations. Eugenics has the potential to speed up the process by applying strategic selection, but can be regarded as even more cruel. Focusing on the mutation process instead of the selection process both speeds up the adaption process and is less cruel.

  24. Do you mean that progress in technology will be increasingly costly compared to the gain in productivity? I think you neglect that technology itself accelerates research and development. CPU processing speed increases. Communication is accelerated. More advanced analytical tools are available. Etc. I've heard projections of the complete opposite, a vertical technological asymptote, or technological explosion, due to the feed-back benefite technology has on itself.

  45. Why aren't anyone exploring the idea of reinventing democracy altogether using modern technology? Example: Every citizen have a secure online profile. Through this profile, citizens elect people to produce proposals and changes. Citizens then excercise executive power through their online profile to pass or reject the proposals. It has potential to put more power in the hands of the people instead of having to rely on indirect representation.
