  1. As Elon's employee she is in no way free to roam. She has to take the company in a direction Elon agrees with and work within the boundaries he define. I'm sure they had deep discussions and Elon made sure they have a somewhat shared vision before employing her.

In the real world, capitalists desceive, manipulate, exploit, and leverage their power to benefit themselves at the expense of others. Big pharma is in direct competition with the human immune system and health. They rather keep us vulnerable and dependent than healthy and resilient. Tobacco industry convinced people it was healthy and suppressed information to the contrary. Sugar industry convinced us lipids are worse. Polymer industry dumped poisons into the water supply causing birthdefects and cancer. Petroleum industry spread lead across the globe, actively tried to suppress information about its harms. Weapons manufacturers actively lobby for war. Etc.

I noticed a recurring pattern where legitimate concerns were voiced but attention was redirected and the discussion typically concluded in a call for investment in some economic project that did not directly address the concern. Example: One leader voices concern over the challenge of telling apart genuine and manufactured opinion, given how information flows across borders and is filtered, throttled and moderated by social media companies who are not transparent about their policy and decision-making. Next speaker redirects attention to Russia attacking democracy and spreading misinformation. Next speaker wraps up the discussion by marketing the digitalization of Ukrain's democratic system and how more resources are needed for digital transformation of democracies. So it went quickly from a legitimate concern about how technology threatens democracy to a call to invest in more of the type of technology that was the concern.
