  7. @Immanuel Ntim-Addae NO min. wage is NOT meant to live on and I would love to see the law or regulation that says min wage jobs are the min to live on. Please show me, I know you cant! MIn. wage jobs are entry level jobs that for every competent adult has for a short period of time. We all had one for a short period of time and then found a better job. How do you find a better job? Learn a skill/trade/profession and make YOURSELF more attractive to employers. YOU protect YOURSELF from exploitation. This is the disconnect we are having, I don't subscribe to a victim mindset like you are doing. Read Robert Schuller's "If Its Going To Be, Its Up To Me" - words I live by and its a great book about positive thinking.

I bet you have friends or family that work for a military contractor, those are great paying jobs. I know several and those people will not have those jobs if there are no wars abroad.

"Because they know somebody or can afford a tutor." - Sorry but intelligence can't be taught so the tutor part is ludicrous and if a child gets into accelerated classes because the parent knows someone, that child will quickly sink and be removed. How do I know these things? I was a gifted student and thrived in it because I was suited for it. No one is saying they're better than those who aren't in gifted we're just more intelligent.

I used to think the same way when I was young. However when I took over my fathers business years ago I quickly found out how wrong I was. Its like Pat said the big corporations are the ones who benefit from from raising it, no one else. Small businesses will be forced to lay-off workers and prices in those big stores will rise. This is why I'm for no minimum wage at all.
