the problem with download sites is they contain allot of ads and maybe malware. The software on the download page may also include other software bundled with it. This is why it is better to go the company/vendor's website to get the software. I save my downloads in my Downloads folder

The Windows Disk Cleanup can erase files in the downloads folder, so make sure that is unchecked. In Settings, go to system - storage - cleanup recommendations The only thing in my downloads folder are application installers

Good adivce about phone calls. Unfortuantely, caller IDs can be spoofed to change the number displayed. My mom does not answer the phone when an unknown or strange number calls. On smartphones, their are apps that can block scam phone numbers or your phone provider might offer blocking numbers

OneDrive can be confusing if you don't understand how it works. You could accidently turn one all the 5 folders listed on the backup window. Also, when OneDrive or any 365 apps get updated, it could turn on. You should have a backup on an external drive in addition to the cloud.
